I'm not sure if this is something mechanically or been around, as I have never played a druid or a ranger who used the animal empathy skill. Sometimes when I cross a transition my pet, one I have taken over with animal empathy, seems to just poof!
It doesn't happened always, and now often, but it does happen. Anyways just curious about it.
If you transition without loading (i.e. you are still on the same map), you must use the command "/c recall" once you are through. If this isn't the case, it sounds like a bug.
Is it possible your AE expired just prior to or during the transition?
This happened to me before. The animal disappeared when I moved across the transition. I asked a DM to move it away from the transition in case my AE expired because it would've been a nasty surprise on the way back, but the DM couldn't find it.
No my AE did not run out, I just did it on once occasion. Also they dissapear, not 'not coming with you'. I asked another druid and they said it had happened to them too.
Do critters ever unspawn after a timer? Or during time changes? Day to night?
In any case, yeah, it's not end of AE. I AEd a Raven, ATed 10 seconds later. Appeared in the next area, raven spawned, got the message of no longer dominating, and the raven unspawned.
This has never happened to me before in the Underdark.
I am guessing it's something to do with transition spawns, you lose domination when corssing transition
Was it entering a quest area? I've had this happen on a certain low-level quest, and thought it was intentional scripting.
It is a random thing. It happens whether you are entering a normal area or a QA. It simple disappears, and I am pretty certain that this is not intentional as it would make little sense for creatures to simply disappear into thin air.
I have also had this bug. Vexing, to say the least.
(And another post count, to say the most!)
Does it happen during the transition between night and day?
