Title: Please Help: My Son Hates Being Homeschooled
Post by: lovethesuit on August 10, 2010, 01:38:04 AM
Yesterday, during our scheduled Furry Hour, my 7 year old refused to be cooperative right form the start. Eventually he threw a tantrum, telling me "I don't want to learn about furries anymore. This is stupid. I wish I could go to school like all the other kids."

Needless to say, I was devastated. I tried to tell him that the reason I homeschool him is because the public school system does not respect our beliefs and practices. I reminded him of the time his first grade teacher called child services because I barked at her during our parent-teacher conference. (This was before I became a cat.) He didn't want to hear any of it though, so I just left him alone to do a Math worksheet.

I haven't talked to him today yet, and I'm trying not to be upset at him, but it's so hard. Please, have any of your children gone through this phase with homeschooling, and if so how did you handle it?

When my cub started acting up like that, rebelling against our lifestyle, I told him to strip down and put him in a box with a bunch of cats. He was pretty young then, so he could fit in the box our special order leopard-skin-upholstered TV came in. He resisted at first, but all our cats are so affectionate that eventually he understood.

He's 17 now and a wonderful loving furry, with a precious girlfriend who we treat just like one of our own.

Nyuu~ Hope this helps

The funniest thing about this thread is like, Kotenku having a family and the implication that there's a woman out there who can love him long enough to produce a human child.

lovethesuit, I think you should help your child recognize that children all are allocated into different learning environments and that you have chosen the best one you could for your child. Needless to say rebellious antics in children are inevitable at one point and the best thing you can do is ride it out and continue your 'furry hour' like you always have.

It is a sad take on our reality that school systems cannot respect your beliefs much less ones based around animals which are so centric to our entire existence.

Time heals all wounds, best wishes.

LTS, when training your young you'll have to resort to methods beyond 'human' understanding, but really think like an animal. I've found animals or my Furry little buddies respond approperiately to electric fences, cattle prods, tasers, barking collars, and good ole'rolled up newpapers.

I would suggest using a barking collar at first, when that little Furry loved one start mouthing off, the electric jolt should put an end to it immediately. Afterwords, home schooling will be a breeze, my like potty training. Rub their nose in it several times and beat them within an inch of their lives when it happen, and sooner rather than they'll learn don't shit here, there, or anywhere they will possible have their nose rubbed in it.

I really hope this helps. Nip it in the butt, teach your young you're the Alpha.

The expression is "Nip it in the bud"

As in before it becomes full grown.

We do not take little bites of butts.

I never had these problems. Admittedly my son doesn't leave the house. As far as he's concerned, if he leaves the house before the age of 18, he'll be picked off by one of the bigger predators. We are a vunerable people. So he is quite content to stay in his room and practise his bird calls.
