Viordai Antalinov's story has finally come to an end. I did not take many screenshots, as a great many of his activities were highly secretive, but I do have this, a picture of the old man and his guardian golem Rumpclaw, which Antalinov lovingly named for the mindless halfling killing machine that made characters fear the Conclave in days long past:
Viordai Antalinov was a citizen of the Moonsea city of Mulmaster, and because of his magical talent obliged to join the city's mage's guild, the authoritarian Brotherhood of the Cloak. He did many questionable things to support the rule of the city's ruling autocrat over the course of his twenty-three years in the Brotherhood, but what finally broke any trust he had in government was the political killing of his brother, who was eliminated for threatening the regime. And then he came to Ymph.
On the Archipelago, Antalinov began a very mercenary career. He rubbed shoulders with Stygians before being killed in a skirmish that saw the Ruby Aspirant Saood among its casualties, and then reconciling himself (after a fashion) to the Armada much later on. He started a merchant company in the Docks, which did much better than I could have hoped -- especially considering that it was home to no fewer than eight spies by my count, including three Ruby Aspirants!
It was in the Docks that Antalinov slowly turned from an apolitical merchant to a strange sort of idealist. He resented the Stygians and Conclave from the beginning, seeing in them the worst of the abuses of power he had seen in Mulmaster, and opposed them -- especially the Conclave -- at every turn. After the Sabuthan Captain Stergnov murdered one of his men, however, Antalinov came to the conclusion that in truth, the Sons of Sabuth were no better.
Antalinov forged together a loose alliance of Docks gangs and begin to work against the Sons secretly, although in just what ways I won't speak to. By the end, Antalinov had manipulated about every faction on the island towards his own ends, but it could not continue indefinitely. He went to the Pentumvirate for a trial he anticipated he would walk away from free, but in the end his careful intrigues failed him, and his story came to a close.
Antalinov was an experiment on my part to see how far a character that acted indirectly toward his goals, and against his foes, could go, and I am happy to say that it went better than I could have anticipated. Thanks and kudos are due to many, many people, players of allies and enemies alike, that I could never name in a list; you know who you are. Continue to make this server well worth playing on, and I will see you very soon in the future.
:( Vi, will be greatly missed. I'm sure there are more times than you can count that you wanted to beat Elera... thanks for not doing it.
Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
:)
Great char- Props mate, honestly he was amazing and had a rich long history on efu
Viordai was truly an awesome character will be missed.
Viordai was a helluva character, and a helluva snake. In my very few dealings with him, he was both deceptive and completely open- very good to plot with, and probably better to have plot against you. You will be missed, look forward to your next one.
...Tk.
Well done. Always gave the impression he was more knowledgable and more in-charge regardless of the dealings.
Glad you had a good time with him. I know I did.
Superb PC.
Long live the Laddermen!
Awesome character. Please make another.
Do svidaniya, Antalinov!
Great PC. I'll miss buying all those potions! :X
While Viordai was active, I only drank distilled water and pure grain alcohol.
Had some good times, sir!
Hmmmm..
Viordal: Started as wizard mercenary, later owned the docks merchanting
Braedon: Common Paladin, turned into Order leader and owner of a castle.
Amazing and developed Character, but I am sad Viordai and Kahuu didn't speak more.
Lookin forward to your next character.
It was excellent to play a lackey (or two, or three) under his guidance. Very well done.
One of the best (period)
Stuff of Legends, reminds me of M. Proverson ... Kudos
Good show.
Fine job. Took us far too long to figure you out.
Great stuff as ever. Looking forward to what you pull out next!
Ridiculous char. Awesome.
Incredibly charismatic and compelling character. Impossible to be neutral towards; you either loved him or hated him, and if you couldn't make up your mind which you did both.
AN exccellent character, I'm sorry to see him go. Look forward to the next one.
It's good to have Dirzin Rumpclaw back in the Conclave. I'll think of you every time I find him passed out some gutter (if he's anything like the old Claw). Superbly done I_O!
I'm going to miss Viordai's visits to the Citadel.
Awesome work.
Nice one, an intriguing and interesting pc.
I LOVE VIORDAI ANTALINOV.
I wish i'd managed to fucking kill him though...
Sick character!!!
I guess he was OK.
jk dogg he rocked hard, eldridge would have been nothing without viordai antalinov's dubious camraderie
Well played sir
I think Iron_Oligarch should be made a DM. :P
Well done. Bloody well done. Haven't had that much fun playing a henchman in ages. Antalinov's indirect nature made him great to work for, with all the spying, scouting and alchemical errand-running he asked. Glad you finally got the Golem made after all the grubbing up of parts we did.
Deserves four pages of comments, TBH. Wish I'd played him.
Well played sir! First major character I encountered with Aerik when I returned to the server, and you set the Hook in deep! Thank you, for always keeping it interesting, both as ally and enemy. I shudder to think of what you will cook up with the Demi God status you know have. And cannot wait!
Amazing guy, there were clearly wheels within wheels going on there.
Awesome character. I'm glad I jumped on the Laddermen with Torgan in the beggining stages. Even though my ride was cut short, I enjoyed all my time with Viordai and the Laddermen.
Tk!
