Title: Plant Pots
Post by: DollarPhil on September 16, 2010, 08:18:13 AM
With the thread up on overharvesting of plants, what might be cool is to add Plant Pots to faction HQs and rentable rooms. A small area on the floor that is suitable for planting a seed in. Inn Rooms could have one, Guild Halls 3, and a couple in the Docks Hideout. They could be perks that player factions could buy off the Gardeners of Life too.

These would allow dedicated research PCs and factions to keep a store of one or a few plants for occasional use and re-seeding lost gardens.

If not plant pots, at least garden plots. Plant pots seem a little tacky.

I think there is already support for 'garden plots', that is special zones within non-plantable areas which override the rule and let you plant.  They're just not used anywhere.  Or, I'm mistaken...but this idea was definitely in the initial draft of the system.

It would be nice if that could be implemented. Perhaps some rentable plots with small walls around them and locked gates?

Perhaps the Garden of Life could offer these as a way for the monk order to have an income.  It could be as simple as the small gated enclosure mentioned above, maybe with broken glass atop the walls or something.

Some plants are already sold at some merchants.

StD and his weed dealer ASIDE, the point is that it's a way to ensure availability of stuff your PC or faction wants, where other PCs can't disrupt it. ;)
yeah I know some reagents are for sale, but not all are.

There are already a number of measures taken in game by several groups to preserve the presence and availability of all general plants in the server. This was established when gardening first went in, and I encourage people to attempt to reach out and find those who know about or have direction to these areas or resources.
