Title: Help me, EFU forums. You're my only hope.
Post by: Baggie on November 28, 2010, 09:10:50 AM
I have a strange problem where the only things that I can connect to on the internet are EFU game server / Forums and Google. I can tracert say -- NYtimes, but after the 11th hop (somewhere in london,) it just times out. It is totally beguiling! I need to check my e-mail etc but all I can do is play EFU.

I've reset my modem etc. I've cleared my cache. This is the strangest thing I've ever encountered! Since I can't really find a solution on the internet will you please help me?

- Baggie

I don't see an issue at all. You can connect to all the relevant things in life. This'll help you keep a perspective on things.

Sounds like a firewall issue.  Wouldn't know where to start, as far as fixing it is concerned though, but have a look at whatever firewalls you're running.

I experienced something very similar in the past!

And aside of being only able to connect to EFU and related stuff, i could use skype. And that is about it.

But, aside of that, I was experiencing truly horrid lag on EFU from my end, as well, half of the packets were lost in the Sharran void of the internet.

What fixed it? I have no idea. It just fixed itself after a few days. Was quite illogical, for someone with a humble technical/networking knowledge.

But! Since EFU works, who cares about email, Baggie! Go on! Play! Have fun!

Try resetting Internet explorer setting, if you're using IE; I had a problem where I could connect to wifi networks, but they wouldn't load any pages, and that fixed it. It's under tools, Internet options, advanced, and at the bottom "reset Internet explorer settings".

Might work similar with other Internet browsers as well, because not even opera on wifi would work for me at the time until I reset the settings.

I'll add that IRC does not work either. I use chrome as my browser.

How dare you title your thread a Star Wars quote and not quote it in its entirety.

I request DM's change this thread to "Help me, EFU forums. You're my only hope."

Now I can no longer log into the EFU game server. Alas!

release your IP if you have not done it - for few times, and then call your internet provider.

It's not unlikely that they could have messed some update up.

Instead of playing EfU, have you tried doing the things you need to do instead?

Maybe if you try harder?

Do you have Comcast as your ISP?

There have been some routing issues I am aware of and timeouts on some of the hops in and out of Comcast networks.

Is there an internet reset option on that? I've never used chrome. =]
