Over my time on here I've noticed that it seems like none of us know exactly where in the FR timeline we are as a server. When I've asked I've had one, maybe two, people tell me it's some time after the spell plague. Sadly I have to admit I'm not sure what that is, since most of what I know about FR comes from the 2nd Ed era novels and what I've read in the game books from, mostly, 3.X D&D.

I felt it was weird that it seemed like no one could agree, or sometimes give any idea, about the server's timeline, so....this's me asking.

Current year is 1377 DR. It is most definatly NOT after the Spellplague, which occured in 1385 DR, but it is after the Time of Troubles, which occured in 1358 DR.

Given the limited flow of information, things from the current year can be expected to likly not be known by new arrivals, depending on your association to them. The War of Myth Drannor and it's crusade may be known to you, but the return of the Shrinsee likly would not.

Furthermore, Finder Wyvernspur is a dead power and Moander lives but slumbers in torpor beneath the Bogs (wether or not you know this ICly is another matter, but Moander is not considered a dead power)

Where does that put us in regards to the books though? I myself could look it up, but not everyone has the game books.

Also, anything that is written in the books to have happened after the year the server was started is not guarantueed to have happened on EfU. The server isn't canon, and the DM's won't put up with all of the bullshit Wotc has been spewing lately.

That's true. They really did butcher the setting to 'set up' for 4th Ed.

EfU is 3.0/3.5 as a starting point, lore wise. 4.0 didn't happen and we have made some non-canon changes of our own.

Time of troubles was useful only for introducing Kelemvor as a diety in it's aftermath, and perhaps the new Mystra.

To trump up Torm as the new high nonny no of Lawful Goodness Knightly diefication. I think Torm absorbed all of Tyr's portfolio, and made Illmater his exarch? Or did he absorb Illmaters portfolio too?

 
Anyway they probably thought Helm was redundant with Torm. A shame, Helm is the Heimdall of Forgotten Realms, and anyone who knows, knows Heimdall is one bad mofo. With his golden teeth.

I usually just avoid outside stuff, I knew spellpurge didn't happen yet, 'cause mages would be right crippled, and figured it was after the time of troubles 'cause no random demi-deity blew stuff up.
