Title: low level wilds quest
Post by: DnDPnPPlayer on December 16, 2010, 06:25:36 PM
I've recently become lvl 4 (again).  THis means more returns to the "cursed stone" and docks to do same quests over and over... I know of only one quest in the "wilds" that can be soloed (other than hunting/gathering) And it's right outside the Ziggurat walls.  So my request would be some more Lvl 4 / lvl 5 solo quests... at least another cave or two to explore... if there are more out there, then I will continue to explore to find them... however this is one of the reasons I'm lvl 4 again.

Gathering suffices SO HARD

The arguement could be made that gathering is "hard".... have to avoid creatures (some that see through invis). Have to explore and find, and then get 1 exp to turn it in. And if you do kill something either because it found you, or you decide to harvest meat, (and if other things don't come to eat you while you battle it out), you get No experiance for it. Trying to not whine here (of course saying that almost always then implys whining).
I'm so gonna change my name and introduction in game from "Niven who walks with soft feet" to "watergirl". :)

Edit: 9lives I thank you for the time you spend Dm'ing

This totally goes in my signature.

But yes - gathering quest can be spammed over and over again, with literally no end. It's just about getting to know the mechanics of the server better.

I don't claim to speak for the DMs, but as I recall, they have an official policy of leniency toward low level wilds characters doing the ziggurat quests.

Yes, there is, but all the same most don't do much of them. Maybe just starting off some will do a couple since until you have a couple levels and a bit of gear trying to even stealth around in the wilds is deadly. And Stargazers near never do any of the zig quests.

It just would seem odd to me to have gathering quests on the zig where you get all kinds of supplies and such in the midst of famine/poverty, essentially giving PCs access to more supplies and resources instead of less.

I would agree that some low level wilderness quests would be nice. There was one quest in tangled woods that is now suddenly blocked off. This would really help wilderness characters who aren't going to be able to stay in the Exile's camp for whatever reason.

Maybe instead of giving supplies, it could give credit towards becoming a Patrician and prestige within the Dominion? Sounds more plausible.

Actually, not true, atleast not a while ago, there is stuff that gets you more, a lot more! Infact I think that collecting quest pays too good in both xp and loot!

Also, there have been atleast three solo low lvl wilds quests a while ago, one not accessible right now (when I got the bugreports right).

Though I kinda agree there always could be more!

I would be iopen to anyone showing Niven where the other solo quests in the wilds are/were.... I may have found them allready as at time you find a "placeable" with no result after clicking on it.  Also as far as zig quests... I wished I had know that then last time my character walked into the zigg to do a quest and a shark demand the tax I could say "no no it's ok really.... I'm a wilds character that's fallen on hard times and I don't come here but to do some low level quests" although maybe if I had sent that in a tell isengrim wouldn't have attacked etc... however a dm did intervene and tell him to let me loose (example of the lenaincy sp?).  I ended up playing it off ig... and still do, Niven has no problem talking about the walking sharks of the curs3d stone that like to beat up scared little girls and feel them up (misunderstood body search attempt). And now she's reluctant to help feed the zigg b/c (according to her) she was just trying to bring some food and teach hunting skills.....

Bit off subject.... still would like to know where low level quests are and actually less of a concern as I've meet more wilds folk in the last week than the previous month.

The DMs (you're free to jump in anytime, folks!) generally aren't going to protect you from the actions of other players. 'Leniency' in this case means that they aren't going to take your druid powers for spending too much time away from nature because you needed to level up before you went out in the wilds.

Bear in mind that you should not do the Wilderness Gathering quest if you do the deliverance quests and similar in the Ziggurat/city.

Reward quest is so great, it takes time to level up at a point but you can technically get all the way upto level 8 if you spend hours and hours and hours of collecting these various supplies not to mention free potions!

Make a few lvl 1-4 quests in STARWOOD. this will help new gazers "Who have in the past struggled to lvl up" It will also help nature pc´s.
The Starwood is too far away for low lvl city pc´s to go there without risk, and so they wont spam them as often.

There is two quests there but I think one requires a Druid, having played a stargazer at a time when there were virtually no nature pc's around, I never found it that hard to level up (This was also before the wilds gathering quest).

I saw that at least one lvl 2-4 quest has been moved to a place that I saw... thank you. I hope I don't get to do it with this character.... however it's good to know it's there if the inevitable should occur (knock on wood)

Recently rolled up a wilds character, between a quest out there and the gathering quest, went from 2-4 rather quickly, and I knew nothing of the area, just wandered around..if your trying to play a wilds char without h/ms say, a barbarian, then it would seem impossible, but if you have the h/ms most wilds do, you are not below 4 for very long.
