So a suggestion thread I started got closed because any specific argument as to why the [TPK-inducing Thing of doom] on Iron Nails is frustrating and nigh-impossible to avoid runs too close to a spoiler. Understandable, and since it's the only thing I feel really puts people off the quest for good, vague intimations it's too tough won't be any better than nothing.
So, I'd like to ask af this censored version is more appropriate. I've attempted to strip out anything useful to scummy metagamers, while still keeping the gist of the suggestion. All information in is intended to obfuscate the exact nature of the issue unless you've seen it.
Quote from: "SlimeTime"Again, I'll give no exact location of the reason this quest is imbalanced, just the fact it's there, hacks through practically all defences, is and horrible for bugging out with how NWN handles [pathing/AoOs/lag/Bardic spellslot gear], thus causing TPKs from nowhere. There's a lot of rooms in said quest that the [TPK-inducing NWN thing of doom] may be spawning in, and I was deliberately as vague as I could while still explaining the specific reason why it was too strong. You can't metagame to avoid it unless you've already been there and know when it's going to [run at you/fall on you/explode/PhK you].
There's no way to get discussion going over the suggestion without saying what the quest-breaker is. I didn't even mention what exact type of Hide
[/COLOR] it is, what with them coming in different varieties with different [AB/saves/damage] and which aren't affected by spells you might use against other [things].
If I'd redacted everything it would read like:
Quote from: "SlimeTime""I hate Iron nails because I'm a pussy and I can't deal with tough quests. I think it should be changed to make it easier, and the mobs changed to L1 kobolds that would only pose a threat to Kotenku's mum. If you don't do this, I shall cry.
That wouldn't be helpful to anyone.
Seriously, though. If there's just one thing on a quest that in several players' opinions breaks the whole thing and needs a change, how on earth to you get a discussion going over it without letting slip exactly what it is? You could have half the thread talking about an entirely different topic without realising.
What did I say though, you could address it directly to the DM team.
And EfU has never been a democracy. It is, and always will be, an oligarchy. So insane threads (and this one is quite a few planks short of a bridge, my friend!) aren't really going to end up constructive, are they?
Ah. That wasn't added on the thread until after I started writing this. I never knew that was for anything other than information requests. Don't suppose we could get a Private Suggestions forum to make it clearer where to go with spoilers, as for the Exploitable Bugs one?
I know the Dms have the final word on everything, but always reckoned it helped a suggestion when it had the support of more than one player, so as not to seem like "Please help me here".
EDIT: The green ink here didn't help my case for not insane, did it? I think I'm too used to ooze colours on the forums now.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with pointing things out, but what got pointed out there was so absolutely blatant that like, anyone reading it would go "ah, ha! I best remember that if I ever do THAT quest!", which defeats the purpose entirely, and absolutely -blatant- spoilers should absolutely get deleted from the suggestion thread, I think.
Ah ha! I like to dress up as a female bunny and blow kisses to myself in the mirror.
even if it was that hard no one is forcing you to do it
I can appreciate the whole no spoilers thing, NC, but you don't have to go around insulting everyone while getting rid of them.
I'm just more worried how he knew that.
