Title: Tumble bug
Post by: Reo on February 13, 2011, 06:02:58 AM
Sorry wish I looked at the features before putting tumble on a armor charecter. Anyways now that I have 5 tumble from skill points it's showing ac decrease. The problem here is when I un-equipt my armor or shield I lose another ac. At the moment I have 22 ac I should have 23 with the + 5 tumble but the feature keeps me at 22. When I un-equipt re-equipt a shield or armor i go down to 21 ac. Is there anyway I can have my skill points in tumble removed by a single point? Would rather have put it into spellcraft if touble wasn't going to help me anyways. But If I can just have 1 point removed that would help a lot!

EFu feature, not a bug. Prevents people from exploiting the tumble dodge bonus -to- easily.

Edited since I read the rest of the post- Well, you can either find tumble equipment, or die, and don't put a tumble point at level 7 in the slot. :(

Right but what I mean is.. without the tumble points I have, my ac wouldn't go from 22 armored up to 18 un-shielded to 21 re-shielded.. Get what I'm saying? the tumble doesn't give me the ac due to my armor. But I'm losing ac when I un-equipt and re-equipt..

It's the script zonking out.

So if I can lose a tumble point it won't "zonk" out on me.. Which is what I'm trying to have done.

I'm not sure what is happening is clear.  If your TOTAL tumble score does not exceed 5 after penalties and bonuses, AND your ranks are greater than 5, the engine will reduce your AC by one.  It will appear as the "red down arrow* in the top right.  If you overcome the armor and shield penalties, it will return to normal.

I personally play a char where this matters, and it works fine for me.  I'd double check your TOTAL ranks in tumble when equipping or un-equipping your armor and shield.

BTW, unless you have an extreme dexterity or really high ranks in tumble, you will not likely get the bonus when using both armor and a shield.

The bug report is  -
QuoteAt the moment I have 22 ac I should have 23 with the + 5 tumble but the feature keeps me at 22. When I un-equipt re-equipt a shield or armor i go down to 21 ac.

It's stacking the penalty.

Well, it needs to stop. Because I'm losing an ac that I should have when I'm in battle, and the only way to gain it back is to un-equipt and re-equipt my armor which somtimes I can't even do in battle.. So I'd much apreciate the tumble point taken off my char so I don't have to deal with losing extra AC that shouldn't be lost. I had a dm already look at it and he said there was somthing wrong as well..

VP cut out the key section. The script is making her lose more AC than she -should- be losing. It's not counterbalancing the tumble, it's reducing more than the tumble would have gained.

Normally her AC is 22. This is correct, with the script reducing her +1 ac from tumble, keeping her from reaching 23. She has a shield that is +2 ac and +1 shield modifier, for 3 total. When her shield is removed, rather than going down to 19 AC, she goes down to 18 AC. Further, when she re-equips it, her AC is 21, and not the 22 it was just a moment before. Hope that example helps clear up how this is functioning for her.

Edit: Tested this more. Specifically, it is when the tumble is a negative number that AC is lost.
