Title: Genasi & their "element"...
Post by: Decimate_The_Weak on May 10, 2011, 04:16:45 PM
On #EfU, Eq made a valid point; "Why don't genasi make good sorcerers?" ... well, they should!

My suggestion is pretty simple, but low priority.

I think it'd be cool if a genasi got the elemental perk for free to inspire players to possibly play a mage-themed genasi. It's a minor "perk", but a "perk" nonetheless.

i'll ignore the fact you said one of the best perks is minor and agree with you, it would help give flavour!

Except the Genasi's favored (and most common) class is FIGHTER, so why would we want to encourage spellcasting genasi?

To encourage creativity.

Because EFU likes to stimulate originality rather than forcing players into the favored class straitjacket?

Originality doesn't need perks though.  Originality is special due to the LACK of supporting perks.  If Genasi got then elemental perk, +x spell slots, or even +x elemental damage for being a sorcerer, what would be so special about seeing a Genasi sorcerer now?  We don't need to give bonuses to half-orc wizards or halfling barbarians just to promote class/race diversity.

It's much cooler when one person does one of those builds without any sort of specialized perk and still manage to rock out.

Yeah exactly what Exile said.  I mean, I am pretty sure they get bonuses in terms of resistances and whatnot anyway.  They probably DO make good sorcerors as things stand.

But why should we actively encourage it?
