Title: Hello.
Post by: Relonor on May 17, 2011, 09:28:27 AM
Hello, all!

I've been meaning to jump in to try EfU:A for years, but never quite got around to it, save for a short stint with Eraamion last year when we took a break from City of Arabel.

Well, I'd like to change that now! Any advice to help finding my feet on your server?

My advice is simply to go out and find a faction to join, be it a PC or DM faction. Work with folk, get acquainted to the server, join a few plots, have fun. A simple henchman is a great way to go in the beginning (and far funner, in my opinion).

Welcome to EfU.

Welcome.
Joining a faction is totaly a good way to get into the heat of things.

Welcome. :)

If you've played Arabel, I'm sure you've got a good idea of what kind of RP to expect.

Seek out a faction you like in-game. Join IRC perhaps (its very helpful, but not essential). Ask questions. Stay in character. Dig deep into the plots ;) The rabbit hole is very deep.

Most importantly... Have fun :D

Welcome! Mortality rates in EfU tend to be high, so I'd recommend starting out with an open-ended PC to start with exploring the world and seeing what parts of it most interest you. I'd also recommend checking the last few posts on the gossip/rumors thread (http://www.escapefromunderdark.com/forums/showthread.php?p=239077#post239077) as a number of major plots are in swing at the moment, and it'd be good to be familiar with what's going down in the world.

There are lots of different "parts" that may interest you - living with the scum in the Docks, or getting involved with other nature-based characters, the patricians of the Duchy, or even aligning with the arcanists in the Enclave.

I think the key component of a new player getting involved in a server is to find other characters/players you mesh with, so definitely look to get involved with a group!

Ask questions. Get involved.

That's my advice!
