It's not you, It's me. A great line to break up, but in this case I'm using it to describe my feelings for EfU:M. For some reason I cannot, for the life of me, create a character. I don't know if the setting is just not one I can connect with, or possibly because I'm losing my touch, or what little I might have had with creating a character.
I've created characters, none of which I took time to think about, and create fundamental things, such as a good goal, good plot, good anything. And even when playing a older character that slept for 3 years, I can't get hooked on it like EfU:A.
Now, Its me for obvious reasons, and not EfU:M. But that's looking at it single minded, could it be EfU:M that is stopping me from creativity? I wanna hear feedback. Anybody else finding difficulty doing what they want to, which is enjoying this awesome game created for us?
I have ups and downs. Characters I really connect with are few and far between, but when it does happen I really, really enjoy playing. Every character between those is sort of a short lived experiment trying things out. Take a break if you need it.
I've been off for a week or so, that's the thing. I really want to play, I just can't.
Group up with someone! Find someone who'd like to cooperate, and who has cool ideas; That way you can play something fun and progressing without having to pull the creative load entirely by yourself, which can be very taxing.
My recommendation is to set your sights on getting something. Do you want to be mayor? An officer in the Mayor's Muster? A successful merchant? Do you want to lord over those annoying peasants from the Mist's End balcony? A simple hunter who one day goes on to make a hunter's guild? Do you want to play a priest who one day owns the Crystal Shrine?
If you want an idea for a concept, PM me, I would love having another henchman.
Or play Bob the Incompetent Guard, friend of thieves, robbers and doughnut/ale salesmen everywhere. It can be refreshing.
When you find yourself stuck in a creative block, look at current group concepts that might require a henchman or something similar.
What has been said above is good stuff. You dont always have to play someone with great goals, sometimes it might just be fun to play joe the average and go with the flow. Maybe join some of the new Associations and be reactively pursuing their major goals/issues. There are many ways to have fun in EFU.

Yes, when you find your creativity running dry, be as uncreative as possible. It'll come back. :P
If you can't get into a regular concept and can't find inspiration...
APP FOR A GNOLL!
I mean literally, apply to play a Gnoll character. Or any other monster or strange, very unusual subrace. If inspiration doesn't work, try forcing it until it does. I played a Lizardman for like a week and people still remember him, not because I was a brilliant RPer but because WTF LIZARDMAN.
I don't remember your Lizardman
Either a. take a break or b. play a purely comedic character
i did and the DMs didn't appreciate it.
Make a leap of faith
This happened to me a few months ago. I took some time off, played another game for a while, and came back good as new. NWN, at least the way we all play it here, is very taxing in the imagination and sometimes you just run out of juice.
I had the same thing up until like two days ago with my current main. For some reason I can't and couldn't come up with a new character that was interesting and fit the new server. I would say go hook up with a group, even if it is just running quest trains, after a while I am sure you will get back in the swing of things. New shit always sucks to adapt to.
I felt the same way when the setting first came about, but then Sternhund had his tournament and I was hooked again. I guess what I'm saying is that before I actually got involved I was bored, but then it was awesome when I joined an association. Try a new association and have fun Seanzie the new setting is epic and ripe for the shaping. Hell there's even a Cyricist city how epic is that?

Yeah, I have a feeling that two years from now we'll all be talking about how awesome Murdertown was, and we'll forget all about Lower.
I have a really short attention span, that's my problem. I'll play something get bored almost as quickly as I've started the character, I always think of something else I'd rather play.
Stupid way to be really, but I don't know how to solve it either!

Caek is my twin?!
A beautiful thought, Beggarman!

This, plus your username, makes me suddenly want to create a Mistlocke Night Muster.
+1 if you feel like co-concepting.
Just chill man. You take EFU:M far too seriously. Relax, join an association if you want some direction without the hassle of an app and enjoy the ride.
I'd also advise and association. I'm having the same trouble thinking of a concept that would work well with the new setting, and figuring out just exactly how the new setting works, so I created a character to join an association and I think I'm getting a good feel for everything.
PS: Caek, your concepts are always bad ass. Sell the ones you don't use to me.
