Title: This sad, dark world...
Post by: Drakill Tannan on July 22, 2011, 12:51:38 PM
It's literaly too dark. At least for me. I understand some areas, like the wilds at night or certian caves should be like this, but just yesterday i realized i'm always playing with Max Gamma so i can see where i'm going.

Could areas such as the mists end tavern and mistlocke be a bit less dark?

It might be either your computer or monitor. On my previous computer I played with max gamma - in fact, I did slid the gamma bar to very bright with many videogames. My new computer seems to have less of an issue with this, and though it is still adjusted for extra brightness not as much so as it used to be, and everything is a lot cleared.

If that doesn't help, Tab will.

Yeah, even in full darkness, the game world should still be pretty visible.

Torches, continual light, and ultravision are your friends!

I noticed this yesterday in the last keep, it is so dark at times in there its like being in a cave. Its also rather silly that the guard standing by what i assume is the cell doors, stands there in pitch blackness untill a door opens, he should have a couple of torches on the walls to light it up cause even if he is able to see in the dark, not everyone in the muster would be able to... Unless they had items to help em see that i dont know about

For the record, i always have a ring with the light propiety, or the light spell on. Some people will remember Drem casting it all the time. Often such wasn't enough.

There is over 400+ areas. We're not going to tweak everyone of them. The suggestion is not feasible and much better resolved if you:

 - Change the settings on your end.

I don't have any problem with it, and I'm at default gamma. If anything, it seems too bright to me. It's probably your screen.

Higher Gamma, or just carry stuff with you for lighting.

I have no issues.

Unfortunately Light & such barely do a thing when you have to turn the Gamma up to maximum to even see where you are going at night. It may not be fixable but it certainly detracts from the game by ten million tons; on such gamma settings everything looks terrible and it's very hard to tell colors apart.

I myself still can't find a problem here. Naturally it's dark at night, but with light and all I'm fine. Can't see any problems myself.

I play EFU on low gamma (because it looks amazingly better) and have no issues. Use IG sources of light (torch, ultravision, darkvision, jewellery, light spell, whatever) if for some reason your eyes are failing.

I can't see a damn thing at all in some areas at night either. Some are intentionally darker than usual, where during the day they look like it is night, and at night it is just pitch black. Nothing that can be done about that other than use the minimap to navigate and spam tab to try and find landmarks.

I have to play with the Gamma all the way up, or I can't see a thing even in the day.  I think my video card is fubar though, or close to it.

I keep my gamma slider around 3/4 of the way up when playing because of darkness issues. I have also noticed that on my current PC, if I tab and return to the game everything will be tremendously darker. Re-tabbing does not fix this, but if i go to my video options menu, don't click anything just access the options and it will automatically get brighter and correct itself.

Those colour / darkness things are mostly result of your graphic card and driver, in alt tabbing. ATI and Nvidia look totally different in terms of lighting and colours with nwn.

Also, have you people tried adjusting your screen colours/lighting and then comparing it to just adjusting your game gamma.
