Tales of Red Eleint
By Micheal Tommas
This book is based off information I heard through talks and writings back about three and a half years ago that were stored in a note book of mine. Some facts are hazy, and the information may be construed a few different ways, but to my knowledge, what I write is true - Micheal Tommas
The War that was, from words and writings: Taking place over the areas around the Ziggurat, the coast along, and the webbed woods, Red Eleint was one of the first series of massive battles fought upon this island I know of aside from Netherese or Stargazer conflicts. As things stood, Ymph was a seemingly new colony of the Count Senuspur, the Stygian Armada at the time was said to have a location around gobsquat, the house Sharboneth and the Numinous Order were prominent groups, and a mister Ortred held governorship over the isle. Things started with orc attacks, small ambushes it's said and then the Battle of the Webbed Wood, which lead to the possible first use of the name Red Eleint, as the colony suffered many loses then, and it was a right bloody affair. The duchy forces pulled back to defend themselves upon the Ziggurat, but they weren't met with further resistance until later. However, when the orcs, and it's said, even people standing with the orcs, walked up to the main gate of city, they didn't attack, but rather offered freedom, however, the exact details and words seem lost to time. War parties were gathered, and the colony busied itself in defence from the orcan horde. A Fort Senuspur, named after the Count, was the next to be attacked, and though it was a bloody battle, a Lord of the Count at the time, De Velen's keep was secured for the time being. The ruins in the temple district soon found themselves filled with bodies, however. Things then seemed to get much worse for the Colony, the orcs numbers continued to rise on the island, and it soon became safe in only certain areas, much like it is today with the maiden's army. Word soon followed, however, of the then simply, Commandant Antoine Trenada's soon arrival until the island. However, his force of Stygians would take a while to reach from Oldport, and until then, the Ziggurat made due with its then avid defenders. Fort Senuspur fell eventually from the orcan raiders, and with it Lord De Velen turned to stone, and Ortred beaten by the orcs as he led a charge against them in the forest. As these two leaders fell in the wake of these events, House Sharboneth took leadership of the war court. Things soon looked even further bleak for the Colonists, as renewed fighting was said to have begun towards the fort, and orcs said to even be heading towards the city gates. Zakarias Sharboneth called for a withdrawal to the governor's island (What was once north of the Ziggurat, and is now Murdertown), and Grand Larson Burkden, Tetrarch of the Stygian Armada, called for all able warriors to meet with him for a last defence. It's said a good sixty men went with him into the webbed woods, and through it Fort Senuspur was retaken and used against the orcs. This would only last so long, however, as the orcs' numbers were great, and the colonists found themselves hemmed in, however, Commandant Trenada and his Cavalry came and soon broke the siege from the webbed woods. The day was won for the Colonists, and though the Spirit That Sings' body was never found, it was rumoured a warrior in black armor may have slain him. In Hindsight; a Collection of updated assurances: That time being the death of the Spirit that Sings however, appears not to be the case, as during one of the early assaults on castle Blackhearth by the Maiden through her servant Irongut, rumours spread of the Spirit that Sings saving adventurers and men of the Order, and pushing Irongut deeper into the webbed woods. Not much else has been recorded of the Spirit since. In later events, though, the undead Irongut was soundly defeated by the men and women that broke the siege on Castle Blackhearth under direction of then Duke Trenada, and his Stygians including infantry woman Aishe, and a band of adventures from most walks of the island - fellhammer hold, the conclave, the stewards, and the docks even. The Count has since shown his dismay for those of the isle as well - Duke Trenada, one of the Heroes of Red Eilent, and commander of the Stygian Armada was eventually betrayed by the Count after the unleashing of the Maiden, and the colony soon followed in being turned against. In a meeting with the count, the Duke was beaten by rubies, and berated for his services to the duchy, in such, he declared war against the count soon after atop the Ziggurat, and declared himself king of Ymph. The Count placed blockades upon the people of the colony, and offered no solace from the maiden's armies, he then as well sent rubies under disguise as sons of sabuth to decimate many of the remaining people of the docks in fits of crazed violence. The war with Count Senuspur, and King Trenada never saw any more than an assassination attempt by a turn-coat stygian named Gregor. However, as the Lichess proved the more dangerous of concern at the time, and as the sons of sabuth let the Mist Raiders attack the Ziggurat from behind, the King found no choice but to end the long standing battle between the Sons of Sabuth and the Styigan Armada. However, Admiral Grouse met his end instead to father Michael. As the sons low numbers were defeated swiftly, the King raced after Grouse - leader of the Sons of Sabuth -, and into the dock's church of Ilmater. However, by the time we could get inside the place was stained with the blood of women and children. Those among us shielded our eyes, and made our way to the basement where Grouse laid dead in a puddle of blood, and the King stood with a knife to his throat in a bewildered daze. Father Michael, the now Psychopomp, killed the former in a dark ritual, and enfeebled the latter, turning the King into a mindless thing, the Cyricist Michael fled, and the King was taken back to the Citadel, though I've not seen or heard of King Trenada since. The Stygian armada soon found itself defunct, as did the Sons of Sabuth. Hopefully these books may help future generations upon this isle, until then, Oghma grant you knowledge in all things.
