Something that's been a bit IC point for my character has been to get the Three accepted over the Triad by characters who actually worship other gods entirely. I thought it useful to bring up some of this OOC because of a major change in the Order since EFU:A.
Your PC does not need to be a worshipper of the Three and One in order to become a Footman, only to accept the Three and One exist. We're a little short on people compared to other factions, which may be in part due to people still thinking about the old requirements of the Order. The new recruiting policy means a lot more concepts can fit in that don't have to be motivated by the Order's faith. The Footman faction gives you a base, allies, wages, access to awesome Mist plot hooks and some pretty nice gear, as well as a lot of freedom to pursue your own goals. Some ideas for concepts that would fit in well:
- Kelemvorite Undead Slayer wanting to join a group dedicated to righteous ass-kicking of abominations.
- Bounty hunters who don't want to join the Muster and sit on the walls, but actively seek out criminals and are attracted by our simpler, more pyromaniacal system of justice ;).
- Civilised Ranger who wants to safeguard their hunting grounds from the Witch, but doesn't want to join up with the psychohippy Druids.
- Tempuran looking to go out in a blaze of glory against the greatest foe he's ever seen, H'bala's Legions. Order is preferably Non-Chaotic, but we have had a Cleric of Tempus in the Footmen.
- Wizardly researcher wanting to work with a church closely associated with Mist, purely because he sees it as a source of interest and power (might have to hide your aims but it could work).
- Ex-Dreamer who has seen his cult wane and wants to join a group seemingly more favoured by the Mist.
This is a very good point, having played a cleric footman of Tempus, an entirely separate god to the Three and One, amongst the order I still found it a very rewarding experience. Like Brimstone says the only requirement is to acknowledge the existance of the Three and One, as opposed to actively worshipping them. There are plenty of concepts who could really dig the apocalyptic vibe of this faction. The footmen are not just stepping stones for the elite fanatics to become knights.
I will give it some serious thought.
Brimstone Sermon makes an excellent point. It deserves one caveat though: unconverted orthodox Triadics need not apply. :)
Correction, HERETICAL SCUM NEED NOT APPLY! *angryface*
Definitely a good faction to enter.
The Order Numinous is well-mired in the politics surrounding Mistlocke and is waging an active, in-character campaign against H'bala! If you have ever wanted to try out a concept with the Order, now is an excellent time to join up. :)
Roll up an Orderman already. You don't want this happening to you!:

Numinous Order is awesome. 'nuff said.
*falls over dead* X.X
No one join, their rules and punishments are overkill.
Wow, rage much?
The Numinous Order is a faction with huge amounts of lore, huge amounts of plots, huge amounts of DM support, and huge amounts of shapability.
Step over your OOC conviction that canon dogma cannot be deviated from and take a look at this extremely refreshing and rewarding faction, which provides the best experience in RPing a religion that I've ever encountered.

que
this post is silly and you should feel silly
Also, Order. It needs more people. Same as the Muster. :C Alot just waiting to happen.
It is always good to have all of the factions represented in-game by active players, there's no doubt about that.
And it does seem the Men of the Three are few and far between of late.
my statement still stands :P
have you actually read their rules
Have you read the Muster's laws? <.<
Sure the Numinous Order might be a bit draconian in its laws, but it depends on how far each player wants to push it. Everything is open to interpretation.
More fanatics please
