Title: Knowledge Domain Ability/Special
Post by: Urlen on December 26, 2011, 04:37:36 AM
Besides granting spells like Identify (1), Knock (2), C/C (3), True Seeing (4), and Legend Lore (6) could an ability/special be added to knowledge domain that let it do something similar to bardic lore (every bard level gives +1 lore) but instead each level of cleric they get +1 to lore?

I like this idea. Or something similar/equivalent.

Its a great idea, the only issue i see is that the spells granted by knowledge domain are already a very powerful mix to give a very advantaged class already. You turn a cleric into a cleric/thief already.. and with Identify already in place, the lore aspect would be for...?  Alchemy? Just from a mechanical perspective, of course.

Bonus to lore would help in deciphering those texts and scripture writings you find around the island, those with the tilted high lore skill roll DCs (that most non-bards don't even have a hope of passing).
Identify has changed here so that you can't use it to boost your lore, like.. at all.. at least that's what I understand. And thus for a scholar or the like, a lore skill bonus would still be incredibly useful.

Identify works very similar to the original, but it lasts less than five seconds.

Also, its only lore and for that special domain. It makes it equivalent to a Bard in this case.

Identify originally: "Over the next two rounds, the caster gains a bonus of 10 +1 per caster level to their lore skill."

Identify for EFU: "Changed Identify to identify a number equal to its spell level of unidentified items in your inventory."

I dunno, but I'm not finding that all that similar.
So, still liking the idea of class-based boosts to that skill.

That is a lot different than I thought which all the more supports knowledge domain lore ability.

Roll out those studying clerics!
