Hi
I would like to encourage anyone to consider rolling up a dwarf and join The Delving PC faction.
Whilst it is a PC faction, we have a bunch of ready made NPC support, from a very nice faction HQ to NPC leaders.
In about a week of really getting started I have had loads of interest from the main factions wanting to be buddies, which goes to show there is room for a few dwarves!
We have also have some nice stories lines ready to roll with e.g. Crown of Dumathoin. Others are secret and can be found out about IG.
Drop me a line if you are curious.
Veiled
We totally need a team dorf. The Delving has gone unpopulated for way too long.
I'm interested. drop me a line.
Just hop on #Delving in irc if you want to talk about it.
In true Dwarven fashion we of the Delving invite you to go fark yerselves. Mistlocke doesn't have anything we want, nor do the Finger-wagglers at the Conclave, the stuck up zealots who can't get their priories straight, or anyone else who thinks we want your sorry politicking and backroom stabbing human arses mucking about our business.
If'n it's dwarfy business you be about and can keep your stubby, meaty fingers out of the business of the humans long enough to keep a dwarf alive longer than a fortnight which seems to be the average human lifespan around here, then quit shaving (ladies this means you too) and get those stumpy legs a pumpin' up to the Delving. If you can't leave the politicking and backstabbing at the gates that kills player factions, then we direct you to the opening line of his non-invite and don't take it personal-like. When folk ask how we dwarves live so long, it's cuz we don't take others affairs on but our own. If humans quit meddling with each other, you might live a little longer too. Oh, and ale. Lots and lots of ale. Pickles the innards and retards decomposition.
There's no keeping a good dwarf down, but sometimes they get overlooked. If you are playing a dwarf and would like dwarf forum access, shoot me a PM and we'll get you going on the roster so our DM support can get you access.
I've seen several new dwarves in game this weekend - don't forget to get on the forums and rock the dwarven goodness - no pun intended (okay, maybe a little). We don't have a faction without YOU!
*bump*
We've got a few stable good players and their PCs now but are always looking for more, even if it's an alternate to play when you see other dwarves on and are just feeling less plot-oriented. Come check us out. If you want to develop dwarf-centered ideas, you've got a ready made group with whom to make it happen.
Summer is here and dwarves are looking for folks who find the sunshine too bright and want to head underground. Things slowed down a lot in the past month with school year end craziness but that's over with for a bit and the Talhund and crew will be around a lot more for raucous brewery bashing and goblin ganking.
Delving ranks are up again, but we're always happy for more.
Newer PCs - if you're not aware we DO have our own forum. Ask a DM for access.
Hello
Look at your concept
Now back to me
Look at your concept
And now back at me
Sadly your concept is not me, a dwarf living on a defiled island but he could be if you picked that dandy dwarf button
Look down, back up, where are you? You are within the Delving the last bastion of dwarf-kind on Ymph suited for battle alongside your brothers drinking what might be your last drought of Hammerhand brew.
Whats in your hand? Look back at me I have it. It is the decree of the Thane to find the crown of Dumathoin, a crown that shall redeem the dwarven race.
Look again the decree is now your two favorite axes, GHORVAR THE ORCSLAYER AND AGGVAR THE GIANT KNEECAPPER
Anything is possible when you play a dwarf of the Delving
I'm on a DM Quest
NOTE: Delving is a fun faction. I spent too much time than I should have writing this. Big props to Prof. Death and BigX for keeping the faction alive
We're still alive and well, with a recent influx of new blood across a lot of different timezones based on the new "obviously dwarf" names I'm seeing on EFUSL when I cannot get on to interact with them.
If you go dwarf and associate yourself with the Delving, be sure to request forum access and let us know you're around. With Christmas break coming down the pike, we'll be looking to try a few dwarf-heavy plot pieces if we can get enough manpower.
Got a dwarven PC living at the delving but not seen another dwarf there, ever. This faction still around?
The Delving isn't so much a faction or even an association. It's really just an extra little "base" of operations for dwarven characters. Sometimes you'll see a handful of dwarf characters on the server, but I've very rarely seen any dwarves that stick around the Delving for much longer than to pop in, maybe rest and check NPC stores before heading back out again. It's a withered area (although I believe it's an very low advancement area), there's not much of anything to do there (at least that I'm aware of) and it's certainly not an RP hub for players.
I have a dwarf that is still there, but Noctem is right, as it stands the Delving is more of a home base/free shortcut for dwarves than an association. That isn't to say it can't start to play a larger role in Ymph politics if an enterprising dwarf or gnome comes round to take the reins. Personally I am not in a place to do such, but I am sure that anyone who would might find a few players right off the bat to support them.
I'm in on this Delving thing!
If you have a Dwarf, Gnome, or character who wants to be involved in dwarvish themed RP and goals - bring you and your characters to #Delving. Be aware that there are not usually a lot of people logged into it, but we're aiming to change that through IG actions.
I thought the Delving was Dwarf only and didn't take gnomes?
Anyway, everyone on the dwarf train.
alekin axebeard is hero of tha delvin'
AYE
LAD
DTW, Thomas, quit being voyeurs and take up your axe!
Speak to the Professor.
I'm in. Rolled one back up today
Is this group still going?
It is, although it can often seem like it isn't.
Really, the Delving is a place that is somewhat a perk for playing a Dwarf, and it comes with kinship with the other Dwarves that live there. Go along to the Delving, set your spawn point, ask for forum access and you'll soon find your Stout kin to crush orc heads with!
Tired of the Crow vs. Stag, Red vs Blue?? Roll up a dwarf and join the delving! We pay no homage to such human shenanigans! And our Inn has ale! Unlike certain newer establishments!
remember, the less cha you have the more cha you have, amongst dwarves
8 cha dwarf master race
Yes more dwarves the Seadog needs more enemies...
Ranks are growing, and ideal time to bring in the dwarven goodness! Odd, off stereotypical dwarfs of all classes encouraged. A scholarly dwarven librarian, a proper dwarven engineer(emphasis on traps and explosions). A miner turned warrior, duel wielding picks! A beardless dwarven thief! ...app for a wild dwarf, and bring some right sized shenanigans to the team nature! ..of course you could just roll up a fighter, a drink swilling, gem loving axe wielding AyE LaD! Line breaker, and commence the smash! Either way, we welcome you.
There is a ridiculous amount of dwarven lore, plot lines and themes to be explored, an entire base devoted to them, and a good amount of players in the faction. A fine time to join up.
This is da faction where you write in an accent, right? Kin.

yes
Join up now!
DO ET
...on a serious note, though. I've been averse to playing a dwarf my entire D&D career, more or less, and I decided to take a leap of faith and challenge myself by trying something new.
And I'm thrilled I did.
There's a sense of camaraderie and an immersive culture about dwarfdom that isn't really replicated in any of the other factions and associations I've been a part of on the server. 100% recommend giving it a shot and trying something new, if you've always thought a dwarf isn't for you but you're looking for a new concept.
Pop in to #Delving and chat us up if you're thinking about a dwarf PC!
Aversion to short, stout folks? Loathe doing a terrible version of a scottish accent? (See Dwarven Veteran Voice Set for ref) Well, the Delve now accepting gnomes! That's right, become a favored friend of the Delve, and bring on the gnomish goodness.. Ever seen a gnomish fighter wielding a warhammer? An intimidating site! A gnomish furnomancer? A wild (may not exist in reality beyond posters imagination) gnome ranger with on arm and one leg? Well,..now is your chance! The Delving is taking in the gnome kin! Bring the gnomish goodness!
P.s..we got tons of plot, and conflict to go around! Don't delay, roll up a gnome today!
Some new developements in the Delving are making it easier and more fun than ever to be a Delving-centric PC.
There's room for more than dwarves, or even just dwarves+gnomes even if you are interesting in something more unique! The Delving doesn't have to be everything your PC is also. Personally I have had GREAT fun treating the Delving more like a home-town rather than a faction in itself. So consider the Delving for your next concept related purchase!
The New Delving: An Equal Opportunity Employer
The New Delving: An Equal Opportunity Employer
The BeginningThe Delving, a stout, fortified stronghold of dwarf and gnome kin and cousins. At least until one fateful night on Marponeth 24th, 1382 DR. On this night, a force of trolls lead by a duo of immensely powerful giants, sometimes referred to as the Noor, sieged the Delving. The FallThe Delving might have stood firm, fortified in their mountain home against attack, if not for the staggered betrayals of two once trusted members of the Delving. Two powerful relics, stolen and Delivered to the Noor by Morduin Kazark began their downfall. Then on the night of Marponeth 24th during the siege, again they were betrayed by Morduin Kazark and his new ally within the Delving; Efrain Aberforth Widdlytink, a shifty, duplicitous Caermyn Master Merchant. Together they kidnapped the thane for the giants during the fighting, forcing a surrender or risk the death of their beloved and rightful ruler of the Delving. The AftermathThe Delving today has become a dark mockery of what it once was. Now ruled over by the two giants, Zohlrunde and Hrigonna, aided by a small force of trolls. The giants are said to be mysterious, powerful creatures, sometimes referred to as "the Noor" or "of the Noor".
The giants now seek to hear oaths of fealty from those who wish to serve the Delving's new kings. The combined wealth of the dwarven delving, and the immense treasure trove of the Noor is a powerful incentive to many people ofmany races. The new rulership of the Delving seem more than willing to accept the fealty of any race or person....so long as they kneel, and serve loyally. The massive combined wealth of what was once the dwarven Delving's treasure, and the already impressive treasures of the giant-kings is a powerful lure to the power hungry and greedy. The rumored veins of ore around the Delving not-withstanding. It is difficult to predict what shape this new Delving will take, as it's numbers begin to fill with an eclectic menagerie of races.
OOC Information:- Alignment: Any Evil*
- Other alignments may be possible if you wish to play a concept that only serves the Delving out of fear for the Thane, or someone who seeks the liberation of the Delving through deceit in swearing a false oath of fealty to the giant-kings.
- Class: Any*
- Some class combinations may only be permissible as a forced servant to the giant-kings.
- Special: Must swear loyalty and fealty to the giant-kings Zohlrunde and Hrigonna.
OOC Summaration
Effectively the Delving has been forcefully conquered by the giants Zohlrunde and Hrigonna. Those few dwarves and gnomes who survived the assault are now faced with a terrible choice, their thane being held against his will. Either swear fealty to the new giant-kings, or flee in search of a new dwarf-home, abandoning their rightful ruler to mistreatment at the hands of the less than gentle administrations of the new "Delving".
