Title: Quest change suggestions
Post by: One_With_Nature on February 28, 2012, 07:15:28 AM
I've noticed recently a lot of quest limitations have been changed and i have a couple of suggestion to change certain quests:

Stirges: Currently levels (2-7) i suggest lowering that to (2-5) as it is a very easy quest, i would even say easier then most of the (2-5) quests out there.

Sewer Town: Currently Minimum of 3 players required for the quest, i suggest lowering it back to 2 as it is one of the very few quests in that level range that outcast/criminal PC's could have access too and you don't always have the numbers to make up these groups. Also given its location and questionably morally challenged community perhaps making it non good only.

Feather collection quest: Currently minimum of 2 players i would suggest lowering this to 1 as it seems to be a very unique quest targeting those of a particular skill set.

Totally agreeing with the first two. It seems kinda strange that Stirges, which feels like a 2-4 or 2-5 quest is max 7, especially with several max 8 quests lately lowered to 7. I can count the cases where I saw someone losing a hit point there on one hand.

About the last, well, never done it. I am pretty sure that it had one player as a minimum in the past though, as I accepted it and then a reset stopped me from getting lost in the woods.

This might not be the place for this, and I don't mean to open a can of worms, but...

Maybe the Hobgoblin quest could have better rewards? The hobgoblins typically wield halberds (x3 crit!), meaning one in every twenty attacks has the potential to insta-fugue a PC. In my opinion, the risk/reward could definitely use a little rebalancing, especially for a quest that is in the same level range as Harpies.

As an alternative solution, maybe the number of hobgoblins in the area after the first bridge could be reduced a little. They tend to swarm and open up two fronts against groups.

Would like it if more quests had no level restrictions and no minimum player restrictions, with the condition that dying while soloing a quest means your pack is deleted ; you cannot respawn in town and return for it.

Stirges seems like that quest where newbies players could easily die. Especially if they're one of the low hit die classes.

If folks are powergaming and constantly running that quest, it might do well with revision though. Otherwise, I think the higher level cap is suitable as not to restrict lower level characters from playing with their higher level companions in an often overlooked zone.

Stirges was my biggest concern really, it really is an easy quest and even if you are completely new to NWN and only done the start up quests i'm sure you would have enough basic knowledge to complete this quest with relative ease, so i would suggest either lowering the level cap or perhaps making the boss spawn harder to kill and a boost in power.

(Its also in a very easily accessable area with little risk in traveling there)

As for your suggestion Nihm, that simply wouldn't work or you would just have high level PC's grinding low level/easy quests for supplies and the gap between low level PCs and higher level PC's would greatly increase.

No minimum level restrictions, maximum should stay.  Most of the quests are hard enough that being having the option to bring lower levels into them, or solo them, would be reasonable I think.

No way, I like the topic's suggestion but Nihm you would get high level characters powergaming low level character, which already happens enough!
