They steal your gold every time when you try and make a sending. The "Urchin" however, functions properly.
The Duergar had this same issue. I am inclined to believe it is a feature, not a bug. :)
I have the same problem, a beggar child has never worked for me before. But as LiAlH4 says, it could just be a feature!
