Title: Bruiser perk
Post by: Deception on March 22, 2012, 10:35:23 AM
The perk currently gives:

Weapon spec: unarmed
5% bludgeoning immunity
+3 intimidate
- - - - - - - - -
Could we let the perk provide weapon focus too? Seeing as you're fist fighting, it makes available feats narrow. My rogue has improved unarmed strike, and deflect arrows. Occupying 1/2 of all the feats you can get at such a low level. If you're not human, that is.
Not to mention that weapon spec doesn't even work without weapon foci.

And unarmed fighting is underpowered as a rogue.

Looks fine to me.

I think the idea of the perks is to help you on your way if you want to go in a certain direction. Asking to get everything for free seems rather silly.

I wouldn't say that it's asking "everything" for free in this case by opening up additional avenues. It fills in a basic thing and is relevant to the perk nature anyways. To leave room for something more flavoursome such as... e.g taking the feat improved parry.

Weapon focus anything cannot be added. Weapon specialization works without the weapon focus.

I should clarify what I meant. That perk in very much in line with the power of the other perks, and is not in any way suppose to give you a powerful build for the sake of it. Perks are flavor, so if a rogue wanted to fight with his fists... He could take this and be better then he could've been if this was not an option.

That said, +2 damage makes the fist a 3-5 damage weapon, which is on average just as good as any sword-sword minus the fact that you can not dual wield. Then, its assuming you'll be fist fighting other people, and yours DI knocks a point off every single attack. Pick up the thug perk to get 2 DR off each on at 8th isn't anything to sneeze at. I should also mention there are plenty of ab upping options at Rogue 8.

This is not significantly underpowered, nor does it do the work for you. As a rogue you'll have to choose if you want deflect arrows, weapon focus, or improved parry. Everyone get the same options.

The very reason I wrote this was because I didn't get the weapon spec. I believed  it was deliberate if you didn't have weapon foci. I was not truly intending to have a power boost, only the full effect of my boon. I should try relogging and stuff and see if I acquire my wep spec. Discard this, I thought it to be a workabout.

Sleeping might help you. Rest re-triggers most lost perks.
