I was pondering about opening some space for players to compliment the good efforts of other fellows. We usually have already the DMs giving us recognition, but they are not always around and sometimes they miss the awesomesauce many are brewing.

From my experience the best business of such is sending them a tell after the interaction has come to an end. PCs greatly enjoy a "Dude that was awesome" or a "Very well done" sort of tell IG immediately after an event.
