Says everything is too dangerous to climb, even though I have max ranks in Acrobatics.

I'd say this is the wrong forum, use the bug reports (//%22http://www.escapefromundeath.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=43%22) section next time  and provide more details (such as context, i.e. which locations you have tried as per these guidelines (//%22http://www.escapefromundeath.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24471%22).)

However, depending on where you are using the climbing claw, this may not even be a bug, rather the climbing system only functions in certain locations and terrains. (Try caverns and the more exotic locations.)

Climbing Old Stones tower, etc. Thought the claw functioned the same way as the oriental climbing claws.. (given that the stones are typically aligned but have small nooks for claws to rest on).

Yeah I've really only found them to work in a few remote locations.  However, if they work, you are most likely on a path to somewhere really cool.

they do work. you just need to figure it out. it took a while for me to learn it.

what you need to do:

- first find a terrain where there are different levels of altitude,
- then click on the area imediatelly above or under where you are,
- presto, it's like you used a stair or a ramp to go there.

It's not a bug. Scripted climbing can only be performed in certain areas such as the Underdark for example.

As far as I've noticed it is only things that are tileset features, like stairs or cliffs, and only that are within one elevation block of eachother. Thus if something is elevated twice while made in toolset it is too high to climb. Doesn't work on placeables or features such as buildings- just terrain, and just to the certain height. This is just my personal experience though and by no means an exact documentation.

Climbing checks are possible however with use of a DM if you have a particularly cool reason or idea. Rope, Claw, etc. are great fun to use in DM situations if you can find a reason.
