okay I guess the remove curse and little help it seems to be is as the DM team want it, but what I would like to suggest is maybe have it so when you attempt to reduce withering someone through this means you can elect to cast a more powerful version of the spell reducing the withering by a scale factor the XP drained from the caster in the process, maybe with additional effects depending on how much you try to remove.
For example...
Remove Curse (Standard) - 150xp loss; removes X amount of withering points depending on whatever factors.
Remove Curse (Enhanced) - 500xp/1000xp/2500xp; removes X amount of withering etc etc
This would eliminate having to keep resting over and over again and penalties could be included to act as a drain on the caster such as a long lasting -2 con or something to that effect. Withering vulnerability for X time.
If it’s possible it would be pretty cool.
I kind of like that, even after I cast it on the same person three times in a row, their status isn't reduced. That is so cool! It should be very hard to make up for that kind of damage.
But I agree with this suggestion too. It seems a little complicated, but if someone has the time to make it happen, it would be neat.
How about introducing some reagents to empower the effect, in a similar way to diamonds/raise dead? You can make them very obscure rewards through alchemy, herbalism, or good RP.
As I recall, several factors already affect the power of the spell used, if done by a player.
Feats, levels, stage of withering, etc. etc. etc. It's been said many times in the forums as far as I can remember reading. Many can be learned with sheer logic as well and trying.
