Since this is now a bit more narrowed in scope, I'm going to go ahead and post the particulars:
This is going to be a player faction whose members will start up at the same time on an agreed upon time.
Our primary playing time will be evenings EST, 8pm-12pm (GMT-5)
THE BACKGROUND:
A cadre of priests, knights and other loyal Lathanderites were assembled at "The Spires of the Morning", a major temple in Waterdeep. High Radiance Ghentilara gave them the task of forming a mission church in Samba, the capital of the gnomish lands of Lantan.
Why the Lathanderites are interested in relations with the gnomes and rare humans of Lantan was a topic of much speculation in Waterdeep. However, no information other than the destination is known to even the most persistent of the curious.
The ship never makes it to Lantan. First, pirates from the Nelanther isles gave their swift cutter chase for several days. Then a mighty gale blew them far to the west of their original course, where they were shipwrecked on a small uncharted island named Ymph.
PLAYER INFO:
Any build or alignment that would realistically be included in this is welcomed. LN, LG, NG make the most sense, but CG and true neutral can fit with a good RP rationale. Characters with low traits such as intelligence, wisdom or charisma are discouraged as well, because they likely would not be selected as representatives of the church. These are the best and brightest examples of the Lathanderite Faith.
Being good at PvP is not a necessity, but a willingness to engage in it if the situation dictates will likely be an IC trait of most characters. If you don't want to get WTF pwned by a PC/NPC assassin or gank squad, this may not be for you. Also, if you enjoy PvP and are intrigued by the concept, you certainly will be very welcome to join.
I will say that PvP is definitely not the central theme of this faction originally, but IG situations will likely dictate a strong possibility that it will occur at some point.
Players who wish to play a member of the Order of the Aster or a monk in the Order of the Sun Soul will need to contact me for further information.
WHEN:
I keep telling people "2 or 3 weeks" if asked when this is going to happen, so let's set a tenative startup date of Jan. 25 at 9 pm EST (GMT-5). If you have any apps to submit for a concept, get them in soon so that we don't have to harass the DM team the day of the startup.
Personally I don't really care if someone plays their character as a main or an alt, but I'd prefer they play their Lathanderite at least 2-3 days a week if they can during the primary time. Player factions usually don't work if they play widely scattered play times, so I'm looking for some cohesion - at least at startup. As we get going, characters that join the faction and play different times should work just fine and hopefully communication amongst the faction won't be a problem.

If you have suggestions/ideas for the faction, even if you don't plan on joining, I'd love to hear them and maybe we can use some of them. I prefer PMs if possible to keep this thread fairly clean. This thread will be a primary means of organization until it is determined that we don't suck eggs, and Snoteye deems us forum-worthy.
Hoping this will create a good story on the server whether it lasts a week or over a year.

ONE DAY DELAY:
I'd like to move it back one day to Monday night, Jan 26th at 9 pm EST (GMT-5) if that doesn't screw anyone else up. If it does, we'll fire this off on Sunday at the original time.
Show up in the waiting area a few minutes early if you can, and we'll coordinate from there.
I'd like to encourage anyone who wants to play join in, that they are encouraged to do so - even if it is last minute. Existing characters IG can join in if it's IC for them to do so at some point. And you can start a character later if you can't make this startup point.
If you want to play a character that is to part of the group leaving from Waterdeep that is being shipwrecked - but can't start up with us, PM me please.
If anyone has apped for being a member of the Order of the Aster, you can assume your character is in fact, approved. To my understanding, being part of this PC faction at startup is the only prerequisite, but the DM staff would like an app for organizational purposes and for their own knowledge.

UPDATE:
Cruzel has graciously offered to run a prelude for us, so we need to get head count on character and class. I'm going to be working with him on getting this ready.
If you want to be a part of this at startup, please get your forum name to Ix so we can get you on the forum and have some IC familiarity amongst our characters.
And once you get into the forum, please post a short bio as we are assuming these characters have at least a passing familiarity with each other. If there is an IC reason your character won't know the others well (like a sailor on the ship) then keep it limited to what they WOULD know before we start.
I have most of the forum accounts for the people starting but if you haven't sent it to me yet, please do so soon. I believe I am missing at least one. I don't want to say who in case they don't want it to be known they are in the faction.
If I miss one I don't think it is a huge deal but I'd like to be able to send them over to Snoteye all as one list.

Just a question. Is it possible that they would have extra lathander armor just in case? If they had extra lathanderite armor than players who could not have done the prelude or make a lathanderite later can join them and be like the regular lathanderite group?
Or have a lathanderite already around on the side and such.
If ICly your PC is a part of this group but you can't make the prelude, send me a forum PM with the name/class etc. and I can write you in as an NPC that is along 'quietly' as it were, so you're 'with them' even if you can't make it. It doesn't take too long, and helps with continuity. As for IC explanation as to why you show up later, it's fairly simple, Shipwrecked peopled can wash ashore not necessarily in the same place. Classic separation, You're all on the island of Ypmh but might meet up at later times, etc.
As for Extra gear for the people who miss the prelude, I'll ask the DM's i've already spoken to about gear, and see what they say. Not up to me unfortunately.
Characters are certainly welcome to join the faction after the prelude. If they are already being played on the settlement, it's not too logical that our PCs would grab extra leather armor as their ship was sinking.
It's pretty cool for Cruzel to reserve a robe or leather armor so that a player can be RPed as being part of this expedition. I would point out that any armor or possibly weapons that we retain from this prelude will be mundane at best - but I wouldn't expect to keep anything.
The prelude is more for RP and some backstory for our characters, and Cruzel gets to pretend he is a DM for a couple hours and flex his creative muscle.
He's put quite a bit of work into this, and we all really appreciate his help. Cruzel has some cool things planned in the adventure.
Surprisingly, we have very few paladins as of now. If anyone wants to play a paladin it's definitely not too late to send me a PM and hop on board.

Far as I know, we're going for 9 pm EST on Monday. I'm available for anytime on monday/tuesday, so whatever works.
It's not on the EFU module, mainly for the reason I am not an EFUDM.
The fact it's hosted on my own dedicated server machine means I can run an overly shiny, overly dramatic campaign setting without lagging the other 20+ players on EFU. Load times and other such things move faster somewhat as well, because there is not a module chock full of hundreds of areas. Less Content generally means smoother performance. :)
Some things to note; /c commands are in the module but not 100% functional as they are on EFU. Some things just weren't worth the time to put in, or are in the module but not to the depth EFU has them. I'll explain in more detail once everybody gets inside the module, before the ride begins.

Should we make characters on the EfU server, or will they be transfered from Cruzel's?
For any number of reasons, a server portal between my module and EFU won't be put up.
You'll have to make the PC on both modules. If you make the PC for this prelude on EFU before the prelude runs, I'd suggest keeping them in the OOC area until it finishes so you can receive whatever loot the EFUDM's let you keep from the prelude. I'm still talking to them about what the will let you keep/what sweet loot I can get away with giving you :P
(That said, Don't expect anything fancy like fullplate, lol.)

Cruzel would like advance notification of everyone that is coming for this for his preparations. People that have already joined the forum should be good, but if you want in on this and sincere about commiting a reasonable amount of time to a Lathanderie, then get a PM to Cruzel today.
We will be posting information in the forum faction today about what to do. Try to start arriving around 8:45-8:50 pm EST (GMT-5) so that we can get it started around at the hour.

INFO for the prelude will be *disseminated by Cruzel via PM, or a post on the forum.

The Prelude went very well, and Cruzel is to be commended for his outstanding investment of his own time and impressive creative powers. Lots of fun RP from the group, I think there were ten of us in total.
I highly recommend any PC faction interested in having a prelude run to ask Cruzel to do it for them!
As I've said before, this is a player faction that any character can join if it's IC.
