Title: High level spawns in low level areas
Post by: chrijone on September 12, 2012, 03:01:11 PM
Could we perhaps have it so such creatures like Shargrass Disciples don't spawn in places where there are alot of low levels please? I think it's a bit much to have such a powerful creature around the Scars.

Your thoughts EFU?

They only spawn at night AFAIK, and night is dangerous!!!!

It is not too bad as long as the mob in question isn't stealthy or invisible. If you see it in time, you always have the option of knocking back a retreat or invis potion and running for it. Also, they are fairly rare, about on the level of Elder Werewolves; I have seen one of those in the Scars on occasion.

Speaking as a player of mages, I personally hate the bloody cats more. All too often they will have their teeth right in your behind before you even notice them. By then you are usually dead if you do not have an invis potion.

The Scars has a sign that says, it's dangerous monsters are around...

Yes, there is a sign saying there are monsters around. So let's just all sit in the square where it's safe, amirite?

The scars is also a go-to area for 2-4 and 2-5 quests where a Shaargas Disciple = Death.. Elder Werewolves are fine, they're horribly strong but give you a chance to leg it if you notice one. Shaargaas Disciples just gank you from massive stealth with no RP, the bastards :P. I'd honestly rather face a Champion of Gaathmar, because I'd be cheesing it out of there the second I saw it. Note that this is not an encouragement to start dropping them everywhere, DMs <_<.

Lock up your windows, keep your doors shut tight. The Shargaas Disciples are hunting for victims tonight.

Yeah, I have been killed immediately coming out of the goblin cave by 2 beserkers and a guerilla, it can be kind of grim.

As insanely brutal as a Shargaas Disciple can be, they still only spawn at night.  Night time is very dangerous on Ymph, even in the Mist.  I like the possibility of running into something nasty in the village surrounds at night.  I'm also educated guessing that the probability of a SD spawning in the Scars is pretty low.

Although, that particular spawn may be a bit much.  I guess I'm torn, but leaning strongly towards "leave as is".

Of course now I'll get ganked by one in the near future...

Getting ganked at level 4 by a disciple is about as fun as dying to traps, none at all. Ymph is dangerous, blah blah, but it's a game and we're meant to enjoy it, not suffer through random terrible things when the -direction- given to low level and new players is to do these things and -gradually- learn the dangers of ymph.

I agree with VP, besides, it's not like in skyrim, where you can press "T" and in a matter of seconds it becomes daytime. If you're looking to do quests and it's nightime, considering you'd be a low level PC and there are 3 low level quests there, you're going to be there.

I would prefer to see Shargaas Disciples not spawning in the Scars, yes.
