Is anyone here interested in putting together a P&P game to play over the INTERNET? I was thinking AD&D 3rd, 3.5, or M&M2e. It seems that the majority of people so far prefer a play-by-post game, so we'll be doing that unless something drastically changes. Who's game?
Would you be open to running something non-fantasy?
Yeah, that's why I thought M&M2e would be more appropriate. Superheroes, man. That's good for any setting.
I'd be interested if we would do it post by post. Though I don't know the 2e rules very much.
Torrent? :D
I'd be interested in this, again preferably as a play by post game.
So far we've agreed on play-by-post! Changing the OP to reflect this. Any preference on systems? I'm willing to entertain suggestions for ones besides those I listed. Also, could a DM chime in on whether it would be acceptable to put the thread in this forum?
Star Wars RPG, imo. Mostly because it's the only that I have any books of. ;)
I have a rare wierd schoolastic d6 rolling narration single player star wars RPG book-adventure that I could modify for some kind of cheap faster-than-efu sessionability that is very simplistic. (more of a choose your own adventure) Hmmm. EDIT: TOTALLY cannot find it in my junkpiles.
Mutants & Masterminds seems like it could be really fun, what with the potential for four armed superheroes throwing their hands at people..
You've got to love telekinesis!
I'm wondering just what the limits are on that additional limb power... 14 arms and 27 legs? what
what
what
what
Will there be Cyborsex?
I am interested, lts, in Pen and Paper and INTERNET
I'm guessing that it's only limited by the amount of points you're willing to put into it, but my Adam's Family slanted mind immediately put the image of flying Things attacking people.
Some of these potential combinations are wonderfully insane.
4ed imo.
So there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of consensus on the game system that we should use so far. How about we try looking at some possible scenarios? If anyone has one they'd like to host, I invite them to post it here. In the meantime, here's some ideas I had:
Return to the Underdark: A non-canon depiction of the early days of Sanctuary, featuring NPCs like the Bresleys and the Archibalds.
Archipelago: We could do a game that takes place on one of the unexplored islands in the Archipelago. When that game is over, the survivors could potentially transfer over into EfU:A.
Star Wars: This one has been mentioned by a couple people, and with a couple different systems.
Monster Mash: Open up subraces and make a monster (or evil) based party. FR, or any setting really, would work for this, and any system too.
Survival horror: Survivors of some apocalyptic disaster have to hold out against hordes of enemies while gathering supplies. You could either barricade yourselves, or stay on the move, or whatever.
Any other suggestions?
I want to play!
How about like a wild west/civil war era setting with magic! I heard of one like that but I forgot what its called.
Vampire or AD&D 2.0, those are fairly easy to pick up.
*strokes neck beard, orders baconator*
I'll play; because it's LTS.
Return to the Underdark sounds pretty awesome
I have a pretty long design doc relating to a campaign in the early days of Sanctuary. Suffice to say, it is still pretty mired in spoilers and FOIG material even now. Might be difficult to achieve!
You could cut or change things if you liked. I think a lot of people still love the Underdark setting. Besides which, I think with play-by-post you have a lot more freedom to sort of edit what you're going to say, etc.

Sounds like the Stephen King's the Dark Tower.
Okay, here's a question. Would you be more interested in Combat, Politics, Adventure, or Free-form?
Personally I like twisty turny plots with lots of betrayal and choice of faction alignment/chance for betrayal on our end
Adventure, with fairies and werewolves.
Man, werewolves.
Adventure! Politics and killing, all coated with loot.
I asked TRB. He -may- accept my offer to DM, but maybe not. Does anyone else feel like they have a story they wanna tell/screw-yous they want to give to the players?
Hello Kitty Adventures!
Not sure about setting subject or framework. But I want in!
There's an awesome system called True20 which was adapted from the M&M system as far as I know. It has no inherent setting or genre, and you can roleplay just about anything with it. There are three classes: Warrior, Adept, and Expert, each skill is a class skill and you get one feat per level instead of class abilities - which makes for very open customization of characters.
Despite what is used, I'd be interested in this if I have the time!
I know this has only been going for two days but I reasoned that, to reduce probability of this falling to the ground, I'd give a bit of advice.
- Settle on a system. Obviously it's better to find a system many will agree on but don't waste too much time on it. You will never satisfy everyone anyway. D20 systems post 2e D&D are all very intuitive, for what it's worth. Considering accessibility is also important (e.g. Pathfinder is supposed to be what 4e should have been, but is not released under the OGL like D&D).
- Assuming whoever ends up DM'ing will agree to it, go with an us vs. them or free for fall type of game. The former pretty much requires all participants have compatible alignments (insofar as alignments are used) but can completely remove friction, the latter exposes everyone to equal amounts of friction.
- Design a post format and stick with it. I know this sounds trivial but it can be very annoying to read through a dozen similar posts all styled differently, especially if a format has already been clearly outlined. Clicking Quote is so easy it's almost criminal so there are no excuses (and for whoever ends up posting it, the [noparse][code][/noparse] and [noparse][noparse][/noparse] tags can be used to show unparsed BB code in which case you could just copy without first quoting).
- Put a limit on response time. Everyone needs time for real life on the side line but it's also unfair for the rest if the game can't progress for a week because somebody didn't post.
Finally, the use of this forum has been green-lighted.
The logical choice is Inquisitor - Dark Heresy.
Thanks Snoteye. Okay here goes nothing. Wheeeee. (//%22http://www.escapefromunderdark.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24369%22)

Logical. Because nobody wants simple, well-understood rules. Let's start off with a complicated game in a complicated setting yay.
