Title: THE SHROUDED LEGION
Post by: HerDarkMajesties on October 09, 2012, 05:53:41 PM
The Shrouded Legion

(UPDATE: Whilst starting off as a character in the faction still requires a DM application, recruitment in-game requires no app. The process is much more akin to an association)

No one should have been blind to some big changes going on in Mistlocke lately. The Shrouded Legion is a minor faction that has the potential to become a much more influential force on Ymph. One thing I will stress from the outset is: This is not a generic ‘Team Guard’ faction in any way, shape or form. Their current role in the village is far from indicative of the whole expanse of its goals, or of the possible concepts that can work in it.

The good news is there’s a great need for more PC’s to help really bring this fresh and interesting faction to the forefront. If anyone is shopping around for a new concept now or in the near future, I strongly recommend you give the Legion some thought.

---A Brief Background of the Faction---

The Legion are a group of elite mercenaries that have been based in Old Port for some time. They are known to be made up of remnants of other groups and factions that have operated on the isles (Predominantly Stygian Armada members and Fleet of the First Bolt) – as well as various other outcasts. Rumours say they are led by an enigmatic and mysterious figure known as the Veiled Lady. She is said to have been instrumental and potentially prescient in helping the Legion navigate the perilous mists of the archipelago sea during their many contracts of employment.

Most recently they’ve accepted a contract from Lord Mayor Zoe of Mistlocke to help bolster the defence forces of the village and protect it in its currently weakened state. The job itself being very different from their usual work has led some to suggest their ready acceptance of this agreement is due to some ulterior motives on part of the Company.

Here are some examples of the various kinds of concepts that can readily fit in the faction:This is just a really small smattering of ideas. There’s lots of stuff that can work within the framework of the faction itself. If you’ve got any questions or want to discuss concepts, contact JaydeMoon or myself on IRC.

These guys are awesome and some of the headbutting that's been happening recently is definitely just a taste of what's to come! Hop on board with a concept or create a completely antithetical one to oppose them -- either way, this definitely looks to have some pretty cool potential.

I'm playing a concept and intend to stick to it, but still some questions rise on my mind. Is it a faction or association? I mean, does one need an application for it?
Also, I read somewhere, I think in the description of the NPC something about the Seekers. Does the Shrouded Legion have any relation to the Seekers? Or is it a FOIG?

An awesome faction nonetheless, something new to shake things up, stylish and badass!

If you have a seeker concept, you can definitely play it in the Shrouded Legion. This would require an application as all special backgrounds require.

I'll give this a really quick bump with some new informatioin as well:

Whilst starting off as a character in the faction still requires a DM application, recruitment in-game requires no app. The process is much more akin to an association.
