Title: Necrophant Manteia Vetis
Post by: AllMYBudgies on November 12, 2012, 09:04:53 PM
Quote[tface=fraktur]Necrophant Manteia Vetis[/tface]

I created Manteia with very few goals.

She was a Necromancer that wished to pursue her art, loosely crafted because I had read 'The Book of Vile Darkness' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Darkness-Dungeons-Dragons-Edition-Accessory/dp/0786926503/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1352753280&sr=8-2) and was itching to play a degenerate old hag. In this, I believe she was a success, but sadly fate would not allow her to live upon Ymph for very long. Exiled and soon bounty-hunted, as is a Necromancer's prerogative, she was cut down before she could truly show the power of Velsharoon or meet with many characters.

I hope that in her short time on Ymph she gave at least the faintest of chills to at least a few spines.

Vita Morsque!

“Sometimes dead is better”
― Stephen King, Pet Sematary

Necrophant Manteia Vetis, formerly Most Holy Death Manteia Vetis, has spent a lifetime in service to Undeath. From a vampiric beauty to aged hag, she had years of experience in the service to Necrology and the art of Necromancy. As a youth, she found her morbid curiosity in the Faith of Myrkul, soon speaking the black words that would see her among a handful of worshippers in the service of the Old Bones. It would come to pass that Myrkul was slain, and his followers left floundering in their crypts. With no love of the new God of the Dead, Kelemvor, and his misplaced hatred with animation and no desire to serve the mad God Cyric it would be the young God Velsharoon that would become the fixation of the ageing Vetis.

Consumed by the dogma of her new Patron, Vetis continued her work in the name of the Vaunted Lord. None would stand in her way, unlife was her desire and the joy of undead servitude would be hers. Finding herself upon Ymph, a land granted the ultimate blessing of the Vaunted - the Withering Curse - Vetis walks in a paradise of parasitic undeath. Pushing the dogma of her deity and worshipping the grey area between life and death, Vetis began her work on Ymph anew.
 • Unnaturally sweet, very much the 'friendly old granny' archetype.
 • Cold, cruel and merciless - she believes it is her right to experiment and toy with both the living and the dead.
 • A visage of kindness, with a rotten core. She has no time for life, jaded by years  spent in servitude to death.
 • Loathe of Kelemvor's ascent and long forgetting her faith to Myrkul, she seeks to bastardize their collective faiths.

Awwww. Why must the old die so young!

Apocryphan enjoyed discussing the Art with her, and I think you really portrayed the matronly archetype type well.

The hurled fruit sending her reeling to the floor in pain, was just... Awww :( -esome.

I wish I could see more necromancers, but they don't seem to last long. :(
