Title: A Personal Matter
Post by: The Old Hack on December 13, 2012, 09:27:53 PM
My older brother, a married man and a father of three, has for months been gravely ill due to a failing liver. After steadily losing strength and weight the entire time, yesterday a liver that met tissue match criteria was finally found for him. Now, after ten hours on the operating table, the surgery has succeeded and he is currently stable. I can not describe the relief I and my whole family now feel.

And now we wait and see. I feel more contented than I have for a long time. I wish you all well the coming new year.

~tOH.

Hope all is well. Been dealing with this kind of stuff myself lately and it's always a supreme relief to get good news from a doctor.

Man, you must've been tearing your hair out. Can't imagine how difficult that would be to go through. Congratulations on his improved health.

It is now the second day after surgery and my brother is doing well. He still faces challenges as he has now been transferred to the section for abdominal surgery for a month -- they have to be sure he won't suffer immunological complications -- but all in all, it is a much better outlook than a failing liver, I'd say.

We are all very happy. I admit I couldn't think of a better Christmas present for his wife and kids, either. :)
