My Arcane mimic vamar Gloomwarden can't summon his snake, just fires off the ability and poof. Is this a bug, or a feature?

The same thing was happening with Galven's snake familiar, I tried it three times.

The same thing is happening with my familiar, also. My familiar is the Skull.

My character is not an Arcane Mimic, so it is a bug and not a feature.
