I doubt that this is intentional. When pacing through one of the transitory abyssal prisons in the Tower of Mercy, a succubi in a cell is capable of summoning an identical succubus. It usually spawns outside of the cell, and is abnormaly strong with a DR of 20, level drain and Evard's Black Tentacles as per the vanilla NWN model. It tends to waylay whole parties, and should be removed imo.
Saying it casts Evard's Black Tentacles is not enough.
It SPAMS Evard's Black Tentacles. At least 7 in total, with no issue to drop 4 of them at a single spot.
Very insanely difficult indeed.
Because one needs to absolutely kill everything glowing red in a dungeon.
DMs have said time and time again it wasn't a bug.
It's tough as hell, but beatable. And you don't HAVE to kill everything in there, btw.
I guess there is a reason its avoidable. Only attempt if you are a badass.
It was hardly avoidable. The succubi spotted us right as we entered the area, and she promptly got Evard's flinging before all had time to chug an invis. We weren't intending on killing anything in that prison.
I believe the "bug" here would be that the imprisoned outsider is capable of summoning another outside of the cage. The one summoned is actually far superior to the normal spawn that is trapped ( if I remember correctly ) as it uses some default ability over a spell.

Yes, that! It has happened to me before, I don't think it's intended. They actually cast the spammed evards out of the cage, and sometimes before the PCs have crossed the main gate.
Ahh. OK *that* sounds liked a bug... un-EFU'd spawn spamming a nasty spell that is unavoidable doesn't sound all that balanced.
It's not intended, although part of me likes that at least one part of that quest is kind of deadly. Nevertheless, should probably be removed.
Resist that part of you Howland. Resist it I say!
