Seems that when you elect to not try to bluff that it was a good joke, nothing happens. No closure of the quest, no XP. A dialogue line from the NPC but the quest does not update to whatever conclusion that is supposed to bring.
Once in a while I think his joke is actually funny- I wish I could be honest.
