I killed 2 deep rothe and was unable to use the skinning knife or the surgical knife on their corpses. The skinning knife gave the message: "The Skinning Knife can only be used on specific dead animals." The surgical knife gave the message: "You can only slice the meat off of dead animals"
They should just drop meat normally, or does that not work either?

Yes, I am stupid. You just need to have the skinning knife equipped and you can click on the animals, you don't need to use the special ability.
