Title: That Malingering Nobody
Post by: Nobody on August 15, 2015, 10:01:16 PM
Absolutely all of my character screenshots are spoilers. Such is the life of a voyeur.

If you have any good things to say about the character, I'd deeply appreciate it, but I would also like to hear the "bad" as a break from EFU tradition: I would strongly benefit from the criticism.

"Nobody" once served in Candlekeep as an acolyte of Oghma. This ended beneath the Red Star. Having acquired vast but temporary sorcerous power, the young monk used the books he knew so well to visit a black archive of the Abyss. He sold his face, his name, and something else to the lord of that realm. He acquired in this way the binding names of lesser demons, but also the advantages inherent in being stripped of identity. He returned to his erstwhile home only once more, to give back the required grimoire.

This cursed transaction was gradually eroding Nobody's physical presence. Although he remained the picture of health, he became more difficult to see or hear with every passing day. The effect was supernatural and allowed no willful deactivation. Without divination, conversation was only fluctuationally possible.

Tbh, I adored him.  I think you did very well in RPing him, and his little notes were cool as hell.  It will perhaps be a compliment to you that it was his shadiness and his rumor and speculation, and perhaps a roll of a 1 that led to his end.

My hat is off to you sir.

I really enjoyed my shadow. It was a really well done character, though my only complaint was the not hearing you thing got kind of annoying.

Well played, seriously.

Sick character.  Stalker perk is very, very difficult to play and role-play well, and you really killed it.  Our characters only interacted for about a week, but I was really impressed.

Some good:

Some bad:

Great PC!

Hey! Dorissa here, I only ran into him two or three times willingly, but what i did notice, i liked.

The Good:
Several Quircks of the PC, though there was a learning point or two largely to deal with Darkness bug(s)
Unique interactions with several pc's, I do believe you were responsible for "haunting" a friend of mine, which is something i've not yet seen done.
a sense of Characterization not found in some pc's.

The Bad:
I didn't notice many things of note "Wrong" in my opinion. The only thing which was really eyebrow raising i'll pm you, it's probably just another miss-conception among miss-conceptions.

Goodwork!

The Stalker Perk can be really hard to work with, since it makes interacting with the character difficult. That said, you handled it better than I've ever seen before on my time with Efu. The character was believable, and the hook you used to explain the perk was actually very interesting. The idea of it being something he couldn't control stuck out from other attempts.Fun to have around, even if I didn't like him as much IC. As for the pros and cons:

The Good-
You really put yourself out there. It would be easy to never get noticed at all, but you made the character take real risks and stick his neck out. I very much approved when I saw him include others through these more bold strikes.

The Bad-
While your hook for the perk was interesting, I am not sure if it was always within the rules. Semi-magical stealth can explain issues with standing in open spaces and not being detected, but speaking at a normal voice without others being able to hear you feels somewhat outside of the spirit of things. Also, there were a few times he snuck into faction areas or quests where I am not 100% on the rules of.

I will admit, though, that even with the bad in mind you took special care to never really abuse the powers in doing so. Which, overall, made him much more fun rather than annoying. Good job!

I rather enjoyed the character and all of our interactions with one another. It was endearing how thoroughly you stuck to your guns in Nobody's characterization, when the sort of reactions the character typically evoked might have lead to some OOC offense in others in your position. Nobody took it all right in stride with surprising patience and resilience, despite numerous setbacks in so short of a time period playing him. It was refreshing to see how thoroughly believable his progression was, despite what was presumably a constant mechanical annoyance as your party members abandoned/forgot about you every time there was a climbing transition. I would consider all of these things 'Good', frankly.

As for bad...well, Nobody is a continuation of far too many early demises. Kindly live longer.

He was also kind of a weirdo, but that was a part of his charm.

I enjoyed Nobody a lot, he rightfully creeped Ordvuul out, and Ordvuul was never when he was our wasn't around. He considered him like a sort of bogey man, and didn't like speaking to him unless necessary because he wasn't sure what would happen if he angered him.

No real improvements needed, from what I saw of Nobody, he was really well played. Always enjoyed having him on our excursions. Too soon an end to a really interesting "sometimes" lowersmen. Part of what made him awesome, was his undefineability (I just made that word up, just for you!!)

The few bits I got to experience were really well played. Nothing but praise from here :)
