Following the silence of the Seldarine in the wake of Dendar's rampage through the skies, tel'quessir are in a fairly unique position in EfU:R. For the most part, the survival of the entire race is in jeopardy, we have no clerics to speak of, and the one elf deity who remains active has gone a bit nuts in a fairly badass way.
This presents a lot of opportunity for role-play and conflict, both within and outside elfkind. Despite the apparent disadvantages, there are a variety of benefits to playing an elf on EfU:R right now:
- A race-specific private forum
- A quasi-permanent area of Sanctuary set aside for your use
- A core group of committed players whose characters are diverse enough to complement just about any play style
- On that note, we have drama!
- Elf Communism - We share the loot we find according to need, making it much more likely that you're quickly going to get your character established, materially speaking
- Elf Navy SEAL code - we never leave a quessir behind, even if it means risking the permanent end of our own characters
- We are newbie-friendly, and we are making a renewed effort to bring new players into the fold, help them learn the details and lore of the setting, and generally try to help them have more fun
- There is no application process, the only thing you need to do to "join the faction," as it were, is roll up an elf, interact with elves in-game, and stick around for a while
- The opportunity to use pretentious elf words like "edan" and "naugrim" that sound vaguely insulting, which is a lot more fun than it sounds
- The chance to participate in and influence the fate and survival of one of the most recognizable and beloved races in Forgotten Realms canon
In short, it's a terrible time to be an elf, but it's a great time to play one.

Any classes your group is short on?
Poncy elves with bows always need more tanks. Fighter types greatly appreciated.
While I am not fond of putting any limitations on concepts, we are on the verge of establishing a more structured military wing among the faction, making it an ideal time for any kind of martial/warrior character to come in and influence/train under it.
Followers of the new incarnation of Shevarash, as the Revenant Prince are also weakly represented currently and solemn
instruments of graceful and refined destruction would bring a whole new vibe of awesomeness to the scene.
Battle Chaplain, perhaps?
Quote from: Dogma of the Revenant Prince, ShevarashThe end has come after thirty thousand years. We have no hope of peace. The People are now instruments of graceful and refined destruction. It is Man who has made forfeit our mothers and fathers, our ability to love, our ability to see. Now our arrows fly in pernicious blindness toward them. Destroy the drow, their taint cannot outlast our light. Destroy the illithid, never bend to the creeping and alien dread. But save your greatest tragedies for Man. Waste no time in reverie, prepare for war in the name of our ancestors. Act, without desperation, in the purity of our form.
Awesome Time to join in and make a difference on the Server. Imagine, nearly half of the elven population exiled into Lower for their part in a violent Rebellion...Half remain in Upper Sanctuary seeking to purify their name and station...while the other half struggle in Lower Sanctuary to survive.
There is a lot of ways you can take a concept. We have a few PC's IG currently, but could use a bit more.
Cheers!

I notice we lack an active cleric of the Seldarine about, which is a pity, really. :c
Someone make one or some Elven Sorcerer to hang out with Narvis! ;D
:O
Not a single player in all this time I have been in the server willing and able to play a cleric of the Seldarine? Gasp.
The Seldarine do not answer prayers and their servants do not seem able to wield divine magic. The role would be one of depressing self-pity or insane hopefulness (an idea worth exploring!) with a spirituality bending towards the Mourning (//%22http://www.efupw.com/forums/showthread.php?p=344510#post344510%22).
Then there's Shevarash the Coward, but he's not really Seldarine anymore.
Actually, someone should definitely make an insanely hopeful (hopefully insane?) priest of one of the Seldarine.
Do not forget that the Wild Elves do not worship the Seldarine directly, placing themselves in direct worship of the primal spiritis. They might mourn the loss of the Many-Branched, but they would not be as affected by the loss of the Seldarine as other elves would.
Another option is the return to the primal aspects of nature, including here the elementals and the Tree of Life in the form of Janath.
There are still other options of worship and hope. Many have gone, but many stay and guard the elven folk.
We do in fact have clergy of this guy, who is going to come back any day now!

The Boss is Back!
If you have an elf on the shelf, take them out of retirement!
Deadly and graceful, elves can be. Join us and slaughter things with elegance and magic aplenty. Totally. We are just cool.
...p-please? So few elves about these days. :(
Wish I could! Currently working on my concept and I've got another coming after that!
We need more elves ): Come join us, we're awesome and better than everyone. And people say we're arrogant...
There is of course the iconic snob of an elf you can play, but you can draw you inspiration somewhere else, too.
The enigmatic elves of a past age, now over - Lord of The Rings
The Elven court of Cormanthor (Myth Drannor) - Forgotten Realms
The Commoners and dosmestics from the Slums - Dragon Age Origins, City elf origin
The tribal clans of the wild - Dragon Age Origins, Dalish elf origin
The rebellious youth, the end justifies the means - Scoia'Tel, The Witcher
If others examples comes to my mind, I'll write them here, but what I want to say is that elves can be arrogant, but it's not a necessity, the same goes for every race. For example, I like the viking/nobility twist given to the dwarves right now.
We need more players! bumping on the previous, but lets be real here, elves are baddass as heck! come on and join us!
Not going to restate the concept ideas from earlier!
Not sure this is the best place to ask this, but here goes:
Is this actually a faction/player group? Or is it a post to ask players to just roll a race?
Does this a group has goals? Ambitions?
If I roll an elf, do I belong to TeamElf by default?
Is this a thread for more of an elven warband? Or "Let's be elves on the same server" together?
Is this more of the Mourners? Shevarash worshipers? Something else entirely?
Are they based in Upper? Lower? The wilds?
Of course I don't expect to have all those questions answered if any at all. It's just that this whole thread has been going on for quite a while, with TeamElf completely changed from September, when the thread started. Almost no elves left from that time, and I'm sure the goals, and the group (if there is a group) outlines have changed as well.
I don't have any intention to roll an elf just yet. Just some things about this thread to think about and maybe updating this thread a bit.
I'd be thrilled if some of my questions will get an answer, whether by a DM or the players. Of course, if this post is completely out of place, then I apologize for the inconvenience.
I'll try to answer as best i can, in the order it was asked as best i am able.
1: It is a amorphous blob, is how i'd best describe it. Its goals and outlook change as the players change. Currently, with the lack of many elves, its just a small group of players who work together to keep a eye on current elven interests, such as that sending calling for an elf regarding an elf chest! who knows? maybe the "chest" is really the torso, and not a box? We currently respond to things like that.
As a "group", we have the joint goal of improving our lot as a minority, as the elven race. What could this mean? You decide! do you want another war band to create better options in X area for the elves? Do you want to make a cleric of X elven god and ( depending on the god ) press to change things, be it bring the god back and thus increase worship and help the elven race in general? ( there are a bunch of dieties, malar among them, who have a vendetta against elves and have a pretty much free reign on taking their revenge) ~/you\~ decide.
No, just like you can make a dwarf and not be a part of the #dwarves, #teamelf is simply a group for characters to improve the lot of elves!
your next few questions are practically already answered: Due to lack of a large amount of players, its currently rather amorphous. Roll a character and /make/ it a warband/quest group / sheverash group ( currently a larger theme at the moment!) if you want to, pro elves!
Currently, it is largely upper based, though there is no reason ( except for the ic issues with individual characters) that there can be lower or wild elfs joining in!
There is a lot of in-game history that remains from the elven faction and the efforts of the elves in Sanctuary since the beginning of EFU:Revelations, all of which can still be accessed and used as inspiration through characters who remain from that time.
I'm not sure what the current 'group' is up to, but I would suggest looking into the 'Sumaldum' if it has not already come up.

In response to Tala's post...
Elves don't really constitute much of a faction in EFU. I rolled Aeylwin because I thought the death of their gods - and exile from Sanctuary - put them in an interesting place. There have been a number of pretty cool DM plots directed at elves in particular. The thing to do really is carve out your own niche/vision for the race and see where it takes you. Hopefully you'll provoke someone in the process.
Elves integrated into Sanctuary, drow enthusiasts, and Ascensionists/Sojourners have all had some cool rivalries.
Hey Guys,
I am bumping up this post on account of a number of Elven PC's being killed during a daring raid/assassination attempt recently. There is so much room for additional Elven PC's on the server. Roughly to date, the Elves had a tough run within Sanctuary. They had two past Directors, a Prefect, and a Sergeant of the Watch. However, all have fallen into some manner of political disgrace. A couple of rebellions have resulted a significant amount of elves being either exiled or fled to Lower Sanctuary. They are teeming with anger and loss...and yet the only one of their faith who answers their call is Shevarash...the Revenant Prince? Now, many elves are the target of so much hatred, mistrust, and prejudice. So, why not roll something up and have instant PvP Mix?
Tons of IG history with the elves...lots of IG plots ongoing, just need a few PC's to aid in pushing them. Or, you could develop your own? Sky's the limit on concepts...Rebels, anarchists, wildlings, cavestalkers, history/cultural protectors, cultists, etc., you name it! Jump into #Teamelf if you wanted to bounce a few ideas.
