Title: Cress Fallen
Post by: SwiftRed on February 28, 2017, 12:49:40 AM
"Mommy please, I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'll be good!"

But the young girl's screams fell on deaf ears. Her mother tossed the bound girl into a cart, accepted her pay, and marched off.

This girl was a special case. They hadn't abducted her. She was legally their own property, and brought in at a young age of six. She'd be broken easy and sold off as some dirty old man's new pet.

Two years of nightmares pass. Something in the girl was breaking indeed, but not her will. She started acting odd. Answering to different names, mouthing off to 'guards', and making claims of being a great hero.

For years she'd be confused. "Waking up" in a cage surrounded by dogs snarling at her or realizing she had been missing teeth from beatings she doesn't remember. The other captive ladies kept it as secret as they could.

"Dear, it was another girl named Erin. She pushed over a guard and blamed it on you."

When she turned 16 the girl was finally allowed to be sold. A fat, disgusting lord made the purchase knowing exactly whose daughter she was. He had his guard hurl her on his bed, leave, and he locked the door.

"You're a bad man!" Was the last thing he heard before being clobbered with a vase. The girl leapt out the window, climbed down the building and somehow managed to evade capture. She was free. Safe. The other names stopped coming.

It was another four years before she found Sanctuary. The first place she didn't have to constantly run from people or beg for food. Compared to the rest of her life it was paradise. She loved it.

"Heya everybody, my name's Lina Cress! And I'm gonna be the hero that saves the world!"

It did not love her back. In the end she would find hope was unwelcome. It took a while, but eventually she was broken. The names came back. This time with more understanding of what they meant. Somehow, with the help of a priestess of Mystryl, the girl's flame sparked anew. It was promptly stomped out. Broken, and no longer answering to the name she had told everyone, she decided to surrender. To go out on her own terms.

This is the story of the poor, tortured soul. The girl known as Lina Cress, her birth name Kerrigan Lumille.

---

Yup, she dead. No screenshots, I can never be bothered to do that. But how 'bout that plot twist? Yes, since I decided on the multiple personality thing I knew that Kerrigan was her "original self". I wanted to make a character who would have explosive energy and really slam it home with that chaotic good alignment. At a certain point I couldn't justify Lina staying peppy so I knew the story was coming to a close. Kerrigan, as well as myself, knew it was time to wrap it up. Had my secret final ploy worked I would have retired her anyways.

"Treasure!"
Erin was the result of wanting a conflict in the personalities. I wanted something easy to remember and simple. She'd only ever speak one word at a time, cause trouble and laugh about it. My favorite moment was after not using nightshade and somebody getting mad over it, we went through the mission and I found a piece of nightshade. Erin picked it up, showed it off, and dropped it off the side of a boat. She "died" when Lina and Kerrigan realized they need to be more responsible.

"Oh, I'm certain things will get interesting..."
Four, or Delia as her real name was, was more of a rebel. Always wanting to push the pieces in the right direction, but never getting in to the conflict herself. She was the hardest to figure out, but thankfully she "died" after seeing what a REAL rebellion is like. She was able to remember bits of when she was somebody else, making her a good spy whenever another self was around somewhere.

"I just want to sell potions."
Kerrigan, the secret real Lina, was always terrified she was fake and would stop existing. To say she got fed up with the nonsense her other selves got in to would be an understatement. Organized, responsible and usually polite, Kerrigan was by far the "real" person. She died last, mostly by having given up.

"Heya everybody, Lina Cress here!"
The main event, so to speak. Bouncy, fun and always hoping to make a difference. She made friends with every damn person she could. I'll be honest, I based her off an old CoH char I made. Cause of death: Crushed spirit.

We were going to be pals on the run from the law together. I don't know what happened to her but she was a cool character, I loved her journal and our few scattered interactions. I can't wait to see who you come up with next

I loved Lina so much. Kerrigan, too. I never saw much of the others. This was a wonderful character and I will miss her!

Too bad you didn't upload screenshots, bet you had some cool ones to share.

I liked Lina a lot, I enjoyed how she tended to make friends with everyone and she became a kind of pawn in people "proving they are good people protecting the powerless" or something. Her story took a lot of crazy turns, really cool.

I only have screenshots of her confession but I will keep it private. Good job on Lina!

Lina was great.  A really dynamic yet somehow consistent PC.  She will be missed!
