Title: Cleric domain suggestion
Post by: KreShar on October 17, 2017, 06:28:44 AM
Can portal domain be given regroup? Or teleportation?

I think in general all domains should be looked at... they seemed a bit out dated.

I agree, Teleportation as a fourth level spell perhaps, for portal domain? Or fifth level, I suppose, but I think with the number of spells clerics get in comparison to wiz/sorc fourth level would be balanced enough for someone that picked this as their domain.

We had a thread long ago about it. I think some domains could absolutely benefit from recalibration.

The “major” domains especially. We have such nicer thematic spell choice now...

Alternatively - rather than adding spells and struggling with the choices and delicate balance - we could customize one spell per domain to be “special”

Water could change hammer of the gods to freeze targets

Fire domain could add a combust-like damage over tome...

Air could cause a lightning ricochet, etc.

I think there is great thematic possibilities in having domains customize “signature cleric spells”

There have been talks here and there of domain spells readjustment, and I'm positive it will happen eventually. However, there are about 40-50 domains, and to design all and making sure they're balanced is not a small project. I don't think any of the DMs has the time for such for now.

If players want to see it happen, they're free to suggest their own adjustments. It's easy to say that "it should be looked at", but what will really help us when we get to it is already having a bunch of ideas suggested by the players.

The same can go for Pent's idea for " signature cleric spells", however this type of project would invovle 40-50 spell changes (not only massive design but also a lot of script/bugs work), so it is less likely to happen for now.
