Title: Special EFU Portrait Pack
Post by: el groso on November 29, 2013, 12:03:41 AM
For the last couple days I've been working on a portrait pack to live up to EFU quality, something to be considered being one of the official portrait packs of EFU. This is no copy paste of any downloaded portrait pack. I have a vast collection of images, and I carefully selected them to make this pack, fresh (as in using images not used in previous packs), of high quality and EFU pertinent. I've included portraits for all available races and most of the available subraces. A total of 143 portraits specially selected and compiled for EFU.

[HIDE=Every single one of them is displayed in the sample below (mind you this sample file had the image quality toned down since the file was so huge, so the image quality on NWN will be better).](http://i.imgur.com/m2l5QDt.jpg)[/Hide]

The "El Groso's Ultimate Portrait Pack" file has about 26 MB, and can be downloaded here. (//%22http://www.sankis.com/pw/efu/EGUPP.rar%22) Simply extract all the portrait files to your Portraits folder in NWN's directory.

If a DM wishes to make this official, in addition to the ones that already exist, by all means, as it was made specially for EFU.

(I don't claim any art content as my own, they are compiled from images published and made freely available on the internet)

Warning: NWN engine may crash when you have too many custom portrait files in your portrait folder, at the time of loading them at character creation, depending on your system. There are a few ways to go around that, but IMO the best one is to keep the folder clean, by removing old portraits not used anymore, and the ones that are not listed in 'official' portrait packs (since those are more likely to be seen only by you). Another solution, should you wish to keep your portrait folder loaded, is to select your character portrait's out of the game before running it, renaming the portrait folder (to something like 'portraits1'), and moving the files you wish for your portrait to an empty folder called 'portraits', since it's the one NWN will capture the custome portraits from. After the character has been created, then put all the portrait files in the same "Portraits" folder.

Thanks for this. I was hoping someone would do it.

Went ahead and mirrored this on my otherwise dormant domain.

Don't have to worry about filedropper deleting it or anything.

Awesome- Thanks for this. Downloading it now

What Id like is a way to live-update portraits through the EfU launcher, and then have a database where anyone can upload a portrait (one at a time so no packs), so then anyone can use any portrait they want, and anyone else can see it- I wonder how hard that'd be? I might play with it and see if its possible.

Talking of 'official' portrait packs, I have been searching the website for them, and most links are gone or dead. There is only one, a most recent, by Mort, and a huge one recommended by DM Nickless long ago. I'll post the links here.

[Hide=Mort's EFU Official Portrait Pack](http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r54/mort_arno066/mort_efua.jpg)[/HIDE]
(Link (//%22http://www.escapefromunderdark.com/downloads/efua_portraits.7z%22))

Newcastle Portrait Pack (recommended by DM Nickless for EFU) (Link (//%22http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Portraits.Detail&id=5682%22))
- Edition - Well, I downloaded this Newcastle Pack, and there's a lot of good stuff, and a lot of strange/silly stuff too. I guess in the end it's worth it, for the amount of options.

What I suggest, which is what I'll be doing, is emptying the portraits folder and keeping only these three packs (Mort's, the one I made and Newcastle) plus single portraits players post here (//%22http://www.efupw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23492&page=27%22) (unless they are silly anime/manga like ones, then I won't).

How many portraits is enough to cause NWN to crash?

I believe it depends on your system, there's no exact number, maybe some won't even crash? By personal experience, it took a whole lot, like, a folder of over 1GB of portraits. It only happened during character creation though, when NWN loads all the portrait options.

Wonderful :) It's given me inspiration to finally go through and cleanse my portrait folder, reformatting it as you suggest.

Good work!
Title: EGUPP II
Post by: el groso on December 09, 2013, 03:29:57 AM
EGUPP II

Since the first portrait pack I made seems to have had good acceptance, I decided to expand it, and made a second compilation, maintaining the style. This second pack is compatible with the first (as in the name of the files will keep on the sequence of the other one). Be warned however that the expansion is much larger than the first pack (283 portraits, 53 MB). I uploaded both options, just the expansion should you already have the first part, and the full pack. The portraits display follow below. I hope you enjoy it. Merry Christmas EFU! :)

EGUPP II (Link) (//%22http://www.filedropper.com/eguppii_1%22) (53 MB)

It'd be cool if a portrait pack could be considered OFFICIAL.  So that there just need be one for people to download and it would be seeable by all players.  Rather than having a bunch of packs that take forever to download.

I downloaded it, and it is great.

Thank you very much Groso for taking the time to compile this !

Does anybody have access to the full and/or second download portion of this pack? It'd be a shame if it was lost forever.

Absolutely, we need the large portrait back re-hosted. I absolutely love it, and I want it !

I concur. Plus - there are no dwarven FEMALE portraits in all the packs.
Why is this so!

There aren't any female dwarves.

Hello guys. I regret to say that I have had a recent unfortunate wipe in my lap top and I have no back up of this. I've just contacted the website host (which is a free service with no waranties), and if they have no means to help me recover the files, I'm afraid it'll be lost, unless someone who has downloaded it could help us by hosting it. If anyone has them in the portraits folder, I could guide them with the name of the files that are part of it, there's a sequence. And yeah, guess I didn't compile any female dwarf portraits simply because I had no female dwarven pictures... Guess artists don't make many of those...
:)
