Title: Oil and Herbalism/ Cooking
Post by: granny on December 04, 2013, 11:16:00 PM
Please!

If we are not already able to craft oil through herbalism, alchemy or cooking, I think it would be a decent addition for the Server if we were!

It gets a bit strange to go as a wild PC that needs to buy oil when you decide to rest in the wilderness with you actually having investment on these skills.

Natural oils could be harvested from plants and animals I suppose.  Perhaps through the Herbalism a recipe could be set up to produce oil.

Doesn't sound difficult to add recipes into herbalism, though keep in mind the crafting systems are all being revamped behind the scenes.

Would be good to have this for future consideration, if it isn't already in the works. 'tis a swell idea!

I might recommend a cooldown on the recipe to represent the time taken by the distillation process (and not to destroy the oil trade!)

It doesn't make much sense to me, considering we already make phials of aromatic oil that then can be used to COMBUST people.

I really don't like the approach of trying to make it more complicated when we got things much more complex and powerful that do not require so much trouble to be done.

My thought is that oil production (or even harvesting directly from plants) is not something that needs to have a huge wall in front of you to be jumped every time you need it. At least not to those that invested knowledge on the things necessary for its production.
