Outis in particular carrying them around and plopping them down around a fire is amazing and such a neat little flavor of the character that I would 100% Second this topic for all future folks who may want to do it, giving it a bit of mechanical flair.
Yes, and because it's a placeable item it can also be stolen so permitting a range of potential interactions surrounding it besides purely the (apt) mechanical benefit.
