Title: New PRC: Professional
Post by: Sandstorm on February 21, 2009, 07:59:56 PM
In keeping with the line of self-appreciating PRCs...

A trained and known professional of renown, you have chosen to pursue a less adventurous side of the island. You may have become a merchant, a contractor, or a bureaucrat. Note: This PRC is not mechanically powerful, and not for those who seek a powerful character. It is for those who wish to socially dominate all others.

I think you're completely missing the point of the class, Dr D. It is not a rogue. It is a prestige class, given to those who have earned prestige. It is like a rogue like a CoT is like a paladin, or an assassin is like a rogue, or a shifter is like a druid.

I support this, we have too few people who are the merchents/beuracrats that run things.

Saddly, their strength would be a strong network of allies and contacts, because they wouldn't last five minutes in a drawn out battle if they got all 5 levels.

I like the base idea, but would prefer something less general.

For example, a 'Merchant Prince' PRC and a 'Diplomat' PRC, rather than all and sundry being rolled into a generic 'Professional' PRC with somewhat drab bonuses.

This is a five star suggestion.

I am not really sure why we need a PrC to completely overpower the non-combat build. Caddies suggestions have merit, but it would need a lot more than just insane buffs to charisma and astronomical social skills.

GOOD IDEA BUT BORING LEVEL UP THINGS. MAYBE 5 OF A CERTAIN SKILL OR SOMETHING AS A PREREQ AND SOME UNNECESSARILY DISTRACTING DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPHS FOR THE LEVEL UPS ALSO

All for the idea, really. Better off being general, its still specific enough, while not meaning several new PRCs need to be made by being too specific.

Dicerolls between players will not be enforced, it's up to the player if they wish to comply - Which isn't really common. We do expect people to properly roleplay their skillranks, however.
