We've all heard these words before. But what do they mean? What do they represent? How can I, a pasty white nerd from the upper east side embrace the rural urbanity and chaotic lawfulness of Lower? Do I need an adapter? Will it Hurt?
Who is Keyser Soze?
WHAT IS LOWER?Lower is a settlement of likeminded individuals with completly disparate aims, goals, and value systems drawn together by a singular ethos: "Freedom above all else." The freedom to worship the god of your choice (or no god at all), the freedom to practice any philosophy, speak your mind, walk around naked or juggle knives without a permit.
WHO CAN LIVE IN LOWER?Anyone and any thing, so long as you don't make trouble. Good? We got that. Neutral? We got that. Evil? We got that. Goblins, Giants, Generals and Grandmas. We have it all and we welcome all. Just don't start fights in the Crone or Bill will slap your shit. Please have all battles in the pre-approved everywhere-else area's.

Lower is the biggest sandbox in the PW right now. Player character actions have a greater effect there than anywhere else, because we're not bound by a central authority, like Upper, or even a group of Elders who give orders, like the Stewards. Sure, it's EfU on hard mode, but it's also rewarding for those who decided to be daring and stick with it.
The shift from gangs of the past to cults in the post-deity EFU:R world has been awesome. If you want to start a religion with some more abstract aspects lower is the place to do it!
I had great fun starting my warrior cult/beast mentality around with Lower and the work of the Ibrandulites, Ooze cult, Acension, and more have all set a great groundwork.
Cults and religion at long last have a toehold on EFU in lower!
I feel it's important to note that Lower is not Docks part 2, Electric Boogaloo. While it's far from Ewok village, there is (for now) less of a sinister, anarchic slant to it's 'freedom' - though your still free to be a bastard criminal if you want. Lower really is open to any kind of Concept right now, you just need to take a short walk down the stairs...

Lower is the best place. Piss on Upper with the fury of a fire hose. Lower is where the next big thing is always happening.
This is no recruitment for "LOWER" as a faction, for it is not. Nor recruitment for any faction in specific. A lot of internal conflict is possible, as in Lower X Lower on top of the already existing conflict Lower X Upper. Just a reminder that a lot is going on in lower, and many groups possibilities that already exist; Although some are just pseudo factions or even minor groups (gangs) they are to play major parts on incoming events. So here are some ideas of folks to 'get along with' in lower, and things to be explored:
Pseudo Factions:
- Church of Ibrandul
- Cathedral of Ascension ("New Seekers" or "Ascensionists")
- Temple of Hoar
- Ghaunadaur (sewers)
Prominent Gangs (those can be worked with or even a PC can gain their favor or be their enemies):
- Winston's "Orphanage"
- Scarhides (Canibals)
- Marge's Scrappers/Terrorists (you've heard of them)
- Scrappers
- Varad-Azuul (Shield/Gold Dwarven Prominent Gang/Clan of Abbathorites)
- Goblins (yes, they have their turf)
- Duergar/Murderbandits (Docks)
PC Efforts:
- Society of the Ordered mind idea of Moving to Lower (//%22http://www.efupw.com/forums/showpost.php?p=425678&postcount=12%22)
- Dunwarren Militia (not much of an effort, more like a PC styling, but others are free to join as well)
- Endless conflicts for the Fortress Claiming
- Necromancers
- Banites
- Wither Pit stuff

- Mercenary Groups
Well, there you have it, lots of reasons to have a Lower Dunwarren based PC.

The thing about Lower is that more often or not, people are forced here rather than willingly choose. If your PC willingly chooses to go and live in Lower, set up a good reason, and if they go because they want to, not everyone in Lower has to hate the Spellguard :)
