Brokeleg Benny casts displacement or something and creates a copy of himself. This copy remained after Benny was defeated. Everything else was rather normal until I entered the arena later against a different opponent. Benny's illusion decided he wanted a second fight with similar results of it being immortal and the thing I was actually fighting being defeated properly.
Luckily the arena still lets you out :)
