I suggest implamenting a system that will allow automatic resets. Seen something like this on Ravenloft.
After 25hours !vote reset command is available. If a single person votes against the reset(questing) next vote can be made in 15 minutes.
This will take the load off our dear DMs and make players happy.
Not having a reset might be a frustrating when one returns from hard days work and wants to adventure with friends to take load off.
And I immagine being pinged for reset frustrates DMs as well so this is a good solution in my oppinion.
I think this is a decent idea, but I would argue the ability to vote against resets aren't even necessary. Perhaps a 10 minute warning before the reset but that should be it, I feel. Of course DMs should be able to delay the reset if need arrives.
I think focusing on the game world and less on questing would benefit efu greatly. Perhaps letting the DMs decide when reset should happen is the best route.
This is arguably a temporary problem that doesn't need a permanent solution. I agree that 36 hour up times can certainly be detrimental to the well being of the player base, but it's telling that even during those long up times we have had a pretty stable population over the last few weeks.
The anguish over this seems largely exaggerated and overstated.
Resets are for quests and we arent online just for that. If you cant handle 36 hours uptime, you arent really engaged enough.
