Maybe it's just me, but there have been a few times where I have accidentally 'Untied' a rope instead of 'Climbing Down' the rope. Which can be hilariously problematic if you are trying to climb down because something is about to eat you. And of course, this hilarity compounds if you have mates that are also relying on the rope...
Can untying ropes prompt a conversation where it asks if you are sure you want to untie it? That could be helpful.
If you are running from an opponent, and have to go through a dialog to get down or up a rope, you will most likely die.
As someone who plays a char with ridiculous climbing scores, I still fail 5% of the time. I certainly don't want a dialog to slow me down even more...
Perhaps only the dialogue on 'Untie Rope' and have the other clickable work as it does now?
What if you're trying to run from someone who wants to climb said rope? I hate dialogs. Perhaps a player tool or chat command for untying ropes if it's absolutely necessary?
I don't think a dialogue would work, as you wouldn't be able to initiate afaik, when in combat. In some situations, you want to get rid of that rope, yo.
Just press tab and be more careful.
Actually, I had a thought. What if we did go with a dialog specifically because of combat situations?
Damaging the upper climb bubble would result in the rope being cut, and a rope item dropping at the lower climb position. You can spend a round or two however to untie the rope and bring it up to you.
This is why you always fire the rope back down asap.
It -tells- you whether you are clicking on UNTIE ROPE, or CLIMB DOWN. Just pay attention to which placable you are clicking on.
Yeah god, learn to not missclick.
Or for that matter typoing, drinking wrong potions or any other mistake that resembles you being human jeez
An alternative suggestion: add a bit more space between the two placeables. Obviously not too far apart.
