Title: Healing kits absorbing other healing kits
Post by: Thrills on January 24, 2014, 05:27:59 AM
Make it so that when you use a healing kit on another healing kit the herbs in the target are absorbed into the one you're using.

(i.e. if I have two kits, both with twenty five charges, I should be able to absorb  one into the other so carrying around two half-full kits isn't necessary)

A simple convenience!

I second this.

The weight value should also be considered, and I can imagine it is not easily possible to script the weight of an item going up/down IG whenever it is used. Can this be circumvented somehow?

What of a new type of healing keg to match what the OP suggests? It could be a 50 lbs. item, capable of absorbing medicine pouches to increase the charge uses. Perhaps cap it at a maximum amount of charges.

It seems to me that you could accomplish a similar task simply by giving the healing kits a move that "discharges" all of the charges within and reproduces an equal number of healing kits. This way if someone wants to rob a bunch of partial kits, they can, and they can stuff them into another one if they spend the time packing and unpacking them.

Just have using one medical kit on another to add X charges to 1 and expend X charges on the other.

There are no "Weight" changes to worry about, healing kits have a static weight.

Scripting wise, it might be a little harder to combine two kits.  What if you were able to empty out a pack, so the player can manually add the kits?

I gues in it's own sense it would be alright and all. I'm just asking, can't you just use the other kit first and throw it away after you're done and then continue to use your own. Is it the weight matter? I gues that affects a bit, but you'd still have about the same weight as two half full kits if we did these changes.

We'll see. Suggestion has been made and we'll weight it as we go, and it may affect some changes or it may not. Certainly at the bottom of very long list.

I imagine most people do - the issue being that many chars perform a carried items balancing act, 5 extra pounds can be a massive pain.

But from my experience the weight of the kits does not vary based on the number of kits inside, its always static - if you were to make them, it would considerably lower their usefulness

Maybe have a way to unload the herbs into individual pouches again so you can repack/combine as you wish. Similar to the 'bundle of herbs' items we see now.

Logically, it would make sense that if you an pack herbs into a kit, you can UNpack them as well.

Maybe this is a possible solution?

Implemented.
