Title: +1 AB on all (or none) of level 8 Rogue perks
Post by: Walrus Warwagon on November 15, 2023, 05:57:07 PM
As per topic.
There is great combat related perks for the pure level 8 rogues.
The scheme they follow is +1 AB, and then other combat related benefit, like CON and DR, or AC and Sand Dance mode, or Saves and Buff Steal.

Other rogue perks, while tasteful and providing a great set of flavorful benefits, are mostly non-combat related.

Rogue is in a good place, but wouldn't it be even better to follow a pattern of:
Combat themed perks:
+1 AB, Combat Benefits;
Flavor themed perks:
+1 AB, Non-combat benefits.

Since combat perk benefits is so great already, why not to close the gap a little bit?
Why I believe +1 AB is better than no AB? Because its then same AB rogue/fighter gets.

I don't really like this idea.

Mostly because Rogue is a very versatile class. And this would hardlock in the battle option, but comes at the cost of social options. If they give us this, it only makes sense to not also give us the other things.

I enjoy taking the Rogue class (pure) on characters that don't do much combat at all, and invest in charisma or intelligence. And simply get a diverse selection of skills.

I don't see the need.

Exactly the opposite intent. Maybe I wasn't clear with description, I'm not sure... Nothing in the existing bonuses is changing, aside of adding AB where it is missing to make non-AB perks more attractive compared to purely combat perks.
There will be just less of a performance gap. It's a roleplaying game, but also a numbers game. It just doesn't make much sense to have this gap.
