Title: Remove Alignment
Post by: cmenden on March 23, 2024, 07:24:19 PM
One of the strengths of EFU has been the complex characterizations and factions throughout the years and this chapter has provided some of the best yet

That said, I think the D&D alignment system really shows its age these days and isn't the best fit anymore (assuming it ever was XD)

We should probably just remove it!

Alignment is far from an ideal system and certainly is highly imperfect in many ways, but I don't think it need get in the way of complex characterization.

Instead it's useful for very simple things like:
- certain spells and mechanics
- managing the silly factor with certain game-play activities (such as animating the dead) being classified as ~ evil ~ that good guys can oppose
- letting DMs churn more items by having flavorful item properties to use
- etc
