Lt Colmes,
I am unsure if we've met, but I operated the Warcamp's Long Range Siege Engine at the first raid launched at an orc fort in the Scalding. Notably, I did so to competent accuracy, despite having no prior training in artillery. We had no engineers present, but I am an astrologian of some small skill and a bit of a master of improvisation. As such, I was persuaded to give my plan a go, so that the assault would have some form of artillery cover. Between a spell of Crafter's Insight, one of Cunning, and a couple of enchanted rings, I was able to unerringly land shots on target for the duration of the battle.
I strongly recommed locating astrologians to enchant artillery operators, if you want to get the most out of these weapons. It is only a first circle spell, and lasts for a long time.
