Title: The Krak De Roses; A Wanderer's Take
Post by: Vax on September 15, 2025, 05:08:29 AM
The famous Krak De Roses, like a solitary rose blooming in the desert ash. It is a welcome respite for weary travelers, gathering place of caravaneers, and watering hole of the movers and shakers of both the members of The Accord and the political somebodies of the Well.

On Ambience:
It is second to none. It feels as though it were the beating heart of the very city itself. There is hustle and bustle but no one place feels overrun. The music of Hakawati can almost always be heard echoing through the bar, and if not it is because a fine play is being put on by the Baladeers.

The entire place is somewhat damp and cool. Which, were it in Harrowden would be unwelcome, but here it feels refreshing coming in from a long day wandering. The art and plants are a marvel to see, and the smell of roses blends surprisingly well with the pipe smoke.

On Food and Beverage:
For drink, they have a lovely if.... unexciting selection. Plenty of options for your day to day with bouza, melange, ale. Their house wine, the Rosewine, is stunning, light, and refreshing. I expected some real knockout hits for the higher end, but all we have is the Modan Port. Modini do wine justice, but the menu ending there falls flat for me. No capstone.

For food, they do well without shooting for the stars so to speak. A fine variety finished with the intriguing nostalgic salad, and ticker cheese. Either of which are unique experiences and tasty, but together they are a delicious and a fine conclusion to the menu.

On Hospitality:
The Banda Rossa keep the place secure no doubt about that. But, when they need to do their work it can lead to a rough atmosphere on occasion.

The bunks are just bunks, clean, but little more can be said. There are private rooms if you plan a long stay, but have plenty of coin ready. Jodfry at the bar, is not exactly welcoming, but performs the other duties of his job well.

High marks overall.
